"You win this time." He heard her scoff, but by the time he turned, her head was already facing the other way. Somehow though, he still managed to catch a tiny glimpse of her face, her lips, more specifically.

He had to blink, his eyes going a tad bit wider.

"I could've sworn I just saw a smile," he thought to himself, unable to prove it. He knew he had seen something, but it was so quick that his brain almost didn't have the time to process the sight.

For lack of proof - and fear of an explosive reaction on [Name]'s end - he decided to let it slide.

After a few seconds, the girl rose to her feet, stretching as she did so. For a second, it reminded Suna of a cat.

He liked cats.

"I'm leaving," [Name] said, not even bothering to add any words she deemed unnecessary. A woman of few words, all right. Some people didn't like beating around the bush; she took that to new extremes.

Upon seeing her change her shoes to roller skates, he decided he'd join her.

"Mind if I come with you?" She took off her second shoe, not even bothering to look at him as she answered.

"The decisions you make are none of my concern. Don't try anything," and just like that, they were off to some place. He probably should've asked her where she was going before following her through streets he was unfamiliar with. For all he knew, he could be following the one who'd end his life. Maybe he would even end up in her bento.

Oh well, he was willing to take the risk. Something told him [Name] knew how to have fun and he wanted to see if this feeling was to be trusted or not.

Deep down, he knew it was.

The rest of the dinner was spent in a somewhat awkward silence, the Miya family eating as they watched their host carefully. The poor man looked tired and worried, but he stayed seated and his eyes had never left the plate still full of food in front of him. It looked like the sight made him want to eat even less.

"Everythin' okay with ya, old man?" Osamu, who was the only one still eating normally despite the previous fight, asked. He looked up from his plate, his mouth now filled with sushis given to him by [Name] before she left.

"Osamu! Address him properly! And don't speak with yer mouth full," usually, the old man would've disregarded it all before saying it was a normal occurrence, but his silence worried the grey-haired boy.

[Last name] Chiyo was no silent man. Ever.

The latter sighed shakily, clasping his hands even tighter in front of him. His appetite was completely wiped out.

"You know," he started, still not looking at anyone,"[Nickname] isn't exactly introverted. She's mostly alone because she doesn't see the point of having people around. I mean, look at her. She's perfectly capable of having the best time of her life alone. She's an independent one, my granddaughter," the more he talked, the sadder he sounded.

"I raised her with one fundamental thing in mind. She wouldn't be a push-over. And I think it turned out great. Sure she gets into fights a lot, and sure sometimes she can look disrespectful, but at the same time, I taught her to reject any unfair treatment. That also means that she respects only the ones who respect her." The Miyas blinked, not really understanding why he was telling them all of this.

"I didn't respect her at all tonight. Even though I'm aware that going out at night is her reset time, I still didn't bother to act accordingly. If she hasn't been going out, she hasn't been resetting, meaning all the stress she gains doesn't get evacuated. Her tolerance bar is already low naturally, and I've been pushing her to the limit." His hands fell on his lap as he bowed to his guests. "I'm very sorry for the inconvenience."

A few seconds where nothing was said, and then, clapping. The old [Last name] looked up, certain he was hearing things, but he was proven wrong when he saw the mother of the twins clap, a small tear at the corner of one of her eyes.

"It's not every day we can see parents admittin' they're wrong. Trust me, I know what I'm talkin' about. Gah, this is so refreshing!" The twins laughed at their mother's dramatic reaction as their father gave Chiyo an awkward smile.

"Sorry about that, my wife gets emotional really easily when it comes ta parenting. She's always had strict parents, ya see." Despite the relief he felt, he still couldn't bring himself to smile. Sure, they understood him, but nothing guaranteed that his granddaughter would.

"If I can add something," Osamu started, swallowing the rice in his mouth, "I think that if [Last name] was raised ta reject unfair treatment, she wouldn't go around being unfair right? I mean, sure ya might've gone over the limits, but at the same time, she knows ya were just worryin' for her. Plus, honestly she doesn't look so petty that she'd avoid ya for a month just for that. We've done projects together before, she's very level-headed." That seemed to reassure him enough.

"Obviously! I mean, have you seen me?" Chiyo smirked, pointing to himself.

"If yer talking about maturity, she's definitely the winner," Osamu deadpanned as [Name]'s grandfather laughed. His laughs were always so loud, yet they couldn't be more heart-warming. When he laughed, you could see he meant it with every fiber in his body.

"Osamu!" The said boy cracked a smile at the display. [Name] and her grandfather had the same mindset, but definitely not the same personality.

Or maybe they did, and he just didn't know her enough to be able to see that part of her just yet. Either way, if he were to compare their personalities with animals, [Last name] Chiyo was a dog and [Last name] [Name] was a cat.

Maybe that was the reason they seemed to bicker so much.
