12. Operation: Switch Tutors

Start from the beginning

"Hyung, my brain is overheating," Jimin whined, dramatically fanning himself with his notebook. "I think I need medical attention."

Namjoon didn't even look up from his book. "You need a functioning brain, Jimin."

"Hyung, this is unfair!" Jimin pouted. "Why is Taehyung understanding things faster than me? I thought we were in this together!"

Taehyung smirked. "Survival of the fittest, my dear Jimin. Some of us are just born intelligent."

Jimin gasped, "Excuse me?! Betrayal! I feel personally attacked!" He turned to Namjoon with pleading eyes. "Hyung, can't you dumb it down for me? Maybe explain it in, like....song lyrics?"

Namjoon blinked. "Song lyrics?"

Jimin nodded eagerly. "Yes! Maybe something like- 'Baby, you plus me equals destiny~' or 'You make my heart go boom boom, just like these equations~'"

Namjoon stared at him. "....Jimin, what the hell?"

Taehyung grinned, flipping his notebook confidently. "At least one of us is going to pass this test. And it's me."

Jimin clutched his chest like he'd been fatally wounded. "How could you? I thought we were in this together, Tae!"

Taehyung smirked. "I love you, Jiminie, but I love passing my exams more."

Jimin groaned and dramatically flopped onto the floor. "I give up. I'm just going to marry a rich CEO and never do math again."

Namjoon shook his head. "You might want to reconsider that plan. Because at this rate, even a CEO wouldn't hire you."

Jimin gasped. "HYUNG!"

Taehyung laughed so hard he nearly fell off his chair, while Namjoon just sighed, realizing that tutoring these two was more exhausting than leading the entire basketball team.

"I know you are not listening to my class because you want yoongi to tutor you right?" Namjoon asked.

Jimin immediately sat up straight, clutching his notebook like a guilty kid caught sneaking snacks before dinner. "W-What? Hyung! How could you say that? I am a very serious student!"

Namjoon glared at him and Jimin sighed dramatically, dropping the act. "Okay, fine! Yes, I want Yoongi hyung to tutor me instead! Happy now?"

Namjoon shook his head, sighing. "Jimin, studying isn't about who teaches you, it's about how much effort you put in."

Jimin groaned. "Hyung, I am putting in effort! I've memorized Yoongi hyung's daily schedule, his favorite food, his favorite basketball moves....why is math the only thing not sticking in my brain?!"

Namjoon rubbed his temples. "Because none of those things have anything to do with math, Jimin."

Jimin huffed. "Fine. Then let's talk logic! Jungkook gets to study with Yoongi hyung, right?"

Namjoon nodded slowly. "Yes....?"

Jimin leaned forward, eyes gleaming. "But isn't Jungkook your biggest admirer? Shouldn't he be the one studying with you?"

Namjoon blinked. "Wait, what?"

Taehyung gasped. "OH MY GOD, JIMIN YOU'RE A GENIUS!"

Jimin smirked, flipping his imaginary hair. "I know."

Namjoon sighed, already regretting ever agreeing to this tutoring session. "I swear, you guys are the most dramatic students I've ever met."

Namjoon pushed open the door to his dorm, already feeling like he had aged ten years in just one study session. As soon as he stepped inside, he saw Yoongi sitting at his desk, his head buried in his hands like a man who had just realized he had made the worst decision of his life.

Namjoon chuckled, closing the door behind him. "I honestly can't teach them."

Yoongi let out a deep sigh, lifting his head slightly. His hair was a mess, his eyes half-dead, and his entire posture screamed defeat. "Oh, you too?"

Namjoon dropped his bag and flopped onto his bed, groaning. "Bro, I swear, those two are not students. They are walking, talking disasters with zero academic interest."

Yoongi snorted, rubbing his temples. "Tell me about it. Jungkook doesn't even seem like he's related to me anymore. The guy just stares at me with big dumb eyes like I'm speaking in an alien language."

Namjoon shook his head. "At least Jungkook pretends to care. Jimin? He's worst." Namjoon sat up and pointed at him dramatically. "The guy spent half the lesson doodling 'Min Yoongi' in fancy handwriting, surrounded by little hearts and sparkles. It looked like a page out of a wedding scrapbook."

Yoongi let out a suffering groan and leaned back in his chair. "Why am I not surprised?"

Namjoon smirked, enjoying Yoongi's misery a little too much. "Oh, but the best part? When I caught him, he panicked and tried to pretend he was solving a math equation."

Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "And?"

Namjoon burst out laughing. "He wrote, 'Yoongi + Jimin = True Love' and tried to convince me it was algebra. He's totally into you Yoon."

Yoongi grabbed his water bottle and took a long sip, clearly regretting every life decision that led him to this moment. "I am so done."

Namjoon patted his shoulder. "Hang in there, buddy. We're in this together."

Yoongi scoffed. "No, we are not. I quit. Effective immediately. They can fail for all I care."

But despite their overwhelming frustration, both Yoongi and Namjoon decided to wait a few more days before completely giving up on their so-called "students."

Maybe, just maybe, there was a miracle waiting to happen.

....Or maybe they were just setting themselves up for more suffering.

Either way, they braced themselves for the chaos that was bound to unfold in the next tutoring session.
