The room was dimly lit when Seina's eyes finally opened.

For a moment, she didn't move—just lay there, letting the haze of sleep settle around her, her pulse still slow, her body heavy. But the remnants of her dream clung to her like a phantom sensation, refusing to fade.

She had dreamt of him.

Not in the way she did when her mind twisted memories into nightmares, but in a way that was almost crueler.
The dream had been peaceful.
No distance, no unspoken weight between them.
Just them, like it used to be.
And now she was awake. And reality felt unbearable.

A frustrated breath left her lips as she sat up, dragging a hand down her face. She wasn't going to sleep again—not if she had to wake up feeling like this.

There was only one way to deal with it.

Before she could second-guess herself, she shoved off the bed, moving on instinct.
She didn't stop.
Didn't think.
She just went.
By the time she reached his door, she didn't even hesitate.

She pushed the door open without knocking.

Chishiya was exactly where she expected—sitting on the edge of the bed, flipping through a book, completely undisturbed by her sudden entrance. He barely spared her a glance, just a flick of his eyes before returning to the page.

Seina exhaled dramatically, shutting the door behind her. "I can't do this."

Chishiya didn't even blink. "Do what?"

She threw up her hands. "This. Us. Existing in the same space like—Like nothing ever happened."

He shut the book with an infuriating slowness. "Something did happen."

Silence. Thick and heavy.

She groaned, dragging a hand down her face. "Can't we just... be how we were?"

Chishiya's gaze didn't waver. For a moment, he said nothing. Then, finally, "And you think that's possible?"

Seina hesitated. "No." A beat. "Maybe." Another beat. "I don't know. But this is weird."

That earned her something—not quite a laugh, but the ghost of amusement.

She stepped closer, lowering her voice like she was telling a secret. "I need to not feel like a stranger in my own skin every time I'm near you."

Chishiya didn't answer. Just watched her with that infuriatingly unreadable expression.

Seina scowled. "I hate when you do that."
