More Aftermath?

I didn’t sleep that night.

Even after talking with my classmates, after Mina, Kirishima, and the others comforted me, the weight in my chest didn’t lift.

I lay awake in bed, staring at the ceiling, my mind looping through the same haunting thoughts.

Eri.

Alone. Scared. In quarantine.

I clenched my fists against the blanket. I’d fought with everything I had to get her out of there, and now they were just keeping her locked up again?

I knew the logical reason.

She couldn’t control her Quirk.

She was a danger to herself and others.

But none of that mattered when she was just a child locked away from the world.

By the time the sun rose, I’d made a decision.

I had to see her.

I didn’t care what I had to do. I didn’t care if they tried to turn me away.

I was going to see Eri.

I barely paid attention in class that morning.

Aizawa must have noticed because he didn’t call on me once, even when Denki got shocked by his own quirk again and everyone got distracted.

When class ended, I waited until the room was mostly empty before approaching Aizawa’s desk.

He didn’t look surprised to see me standing there.

“…You want to see her.”

It wasn’t a question.

I swallowed. “Yes.”

Aizawa leaned back in his chair, watching me with that unreadable expression of his. “You know the doctors aren’t allowing visitors.”

I clenched my jaw. “She’s just a kid.”

“I know.”

“She’s alone, Sensei.”

“I know that too.”

My hands curled into fists. “Then why aren’t they letting anyone in?”

“Because they don’t want her Quirk activating by accident,” Aizawa answered evenly. “And they’re not sure if she’ll be able to turn it off.”

I gritted my teeth. “So what? They’re just going to let her sit in a room by herself forever?”

Aizawa didn’t answer right away. He just watched me.

I took a breath, trying to calm the anger burning in my chest. “She needs someone to be there for her. She just got saved from that hell and now she’s being locked up again. What do you think that’s doing to her?”

Aizawa’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“…You’re taking this personally.”

I flinched.

He wasn’t wrong.

“She’s a kid, Sensei,” I muttered. “She doesn’t deserve this.”

Aizawa sighed through his nose. “I know.”

“So let me see her.”

He arched a brow. “You think I have that power?”

I met his gaze. “If anyone does, it’s you.”

For a long moment, Aizawa just stared at me.

Then, to my surprise, he stood up.

“…Come with me.”
