Ninjago reader insert (Continuation)

Cole's POV

As a ninja, you experience a lot of bad things. Pain, fear, sadness, or grief. But there are also good things, like happiness, friendship, love, and relief.

And relief is the very thing I'm feeling right now as I squeeze my two best friends in a bear hug.

“YOU'RE OKAY!” I exclaim happily, “You're safe! Why did your hair change color? Actually, I don't care, YOU'RE OKAY!!”

“Of course she's okay. No stupid Ice Emperor is going to take our Panther out!” Jay declares with a grin.

“Guys, I've missed you too, now if I could just breathe!” (Y/n) wheezes, trying more to loosen my grip rather than escape the hug.

“Is that why you left?” Skylor asks Kai, “Why didn't you just tell us?”

“Uh, because she wasn't just (Y/n) when I found her.” Kai says.

“What do you mean?” I ask, setting (Y/n) and Jay down.

Harumi and Seliel are quick to bring (Y/n) into another tight hug, and (Y/n) is quick to return it.

“(Y/n) was the Warden.” Kai states.

“WHAT?!” Seliel exclaims, “Wait, why were you working for the Ice Emperor?”

“It's not like I wanted to. But even after I convinced Zane that we were friends he decided to use that stupid scroll to make sure I…stayed true to my words.” (Y/n) explains before sighing, “When I first became the Warden my mind was set on keeping Zane safe, but everything else in my head was pushed into the background. Though, after the first decade, things started to clear up bit by bit.”

“Decade?!” We all shout in shock.

“(Y/n). You've only been gone for a couple of days.” Skylor tells her.

(Y/n) shakes her head, “Time works differently depending on which realm you're in. Zane and I have been here for sixty years.”

Our eyes widen in shock, the atmosphere becoming tense.

‘They've been stuck here…for sixty years?’

“Well, you don't look a day over twenty.” Jay states with a grin, cutting through the tension as he leans on (Y/n)’s shoulder.

“I didn't really age.” (Y/n) tells us, “I think my Oni blood, along with the Ice, slowed down the process…though it still caused some changes.”

Now that she's mentioned it, (Y/n) has changed. The tips of her horns and wings seem to be flaked with ice, her skin is a bit paler, and the biggest change of all would be her hair. Instead of the (h/c) that I'm used to seeing, it's a platinum blonde, like Lloyd's, but then her hair fades into white at the end.

“Ha-ha. You and Lloyd look even more like twins now.” Jay laughs.

“Are these changes…permanent?” Harumi asks worriedly, “I mean, it looks pretty cool, but are you feeling okay?”

“Yeah, why don't you go to Sorla's cabin, the fire in there should warm you up.” Nya suggests.

“Uh, no, no. That's okay.” (Y/n) refuses, “I feel fine, I'm not even cold.”

“You're been covered in ice for decades and you're not cold?” Seliel asks.

“Um, pretty much.” (Y/n) says, “In fact, I think I'd rather stay away from fire, and just…heat in general.”

We all look at her with frowns, concerned that her time as the Warden might have permanently hurt her in some way.

“I'm okay.” (Y/n) assures us, “I don't know what's permanent or not, but after we save Zane and get out of here, I'm sure Mystake wouldn't mind looking me over.”
