Namjoon added, “We’ll be here for you no matter what, Kookie. You don’t have to go through this alone. But you need to take the step and talk to him. It’s the only way you’ll know what’s really going on.”
Jungkook nodded, still feeling conflicted, but there was a sense of relief starting to replace his anxiety. His feelings were valid. They were real. And he wasn’t alone in this struggle. His hyungs were there to support him, no matter what.
With a deep breath, Jungkook found himself silently thanking Namjoon and Yoongi. They had given him the courage to confront his feelings head-on. But now, the hardest part was yet to come.
That night, as the members sat around in the living room, laughing and talking, Jungkook couldn’t shake the thought of Jin. His heart was pounding, and he could feel his palms sweating. It was time.
He glanced across the room, his eyes landing on Jin, who was sitting quietly, a soft smile on his face as he listened to the others. There was something so comforting about the way Jin looked, and yet, Jungkook felt a deep knot in his stomach.
After a few moments, Jungkook stood up, quietly excusing himself. He walked down the hallway, his footsteps echoing in the silence. He knew what he had to do.
When he reached Jin’s room, he hesitated for just a moment before knocking softly on the door. Jin’s voice came from inside. “Come in.”
Jungkook took a deep breath and opened the door, stepping inside. Jin looked up from where he was sitting on the bed, his eyes lighting up in a familiar, welcoming way. “Hey, Kookie. What’s up?”
Jungkook stood there, his heart racing. He could feel the weight of his confession pressing down on him, but this was it. There was no turning back. He had to say it.
“Hyung…” Jungkook’s voice cracked as he spoke, and he could feel his chest tighten. “I… I’ve been avoiding you because I’ve been feeling something… something I don’t know how to handle. I like you, Jin. More than a friend. More than a brother. And I don’t know what to do about it. I’m scared I’ll ruin everything between us, but I can’t keep pretending that it’s nothing. I like you. I don’t know if you feel the same way, but I had to tell you.”
The room was silent for a moment, the words hanging in the air. Jungkook held his breath, waiting for Jin’s response. He felt exposed, vulnerable—like he had just opened up the deepest part of himself.
Jungkook’s heart hammered in his chest as he stood before Jin, the words he had been holding inside for so long finally spilling out. His confession was raw, vulnerable, and full of the emotions he had been trying to understand. He had laid himself bare, hoping for the best, but he had prepared for the worst.
Jin’s expression shifted as Jungkook spoke. At first, there was a softness in his eyes, but it quickly turned to something more distant, something guarded. His gaze softened, but it wasn’t the warmth Jungkook had hoped for. Instead, there was a quiet sorrow, an unwillingness to acknowledge the truth that had been laid before him.
“Kookie…” Jin began, his voice calm, but there was an underlying sadness that Jungkook could hear. “You’re still so young. You have so much ahead of you. You don’t need to be weighed down by these feelings and the world never accept us. If you spend time with others, if you experience more of life, you’ll realize that I’m not the one for you. You’ll forget about me.”
Jungkook felt his chest tighten, every word from Jin like a knife digging deeper into his heart. “But I… I like you, Jin. I care about you more than just a friend. I—”
Jin held up a hand, cutting him off gently. “I’m much older than you, Kookie. You need someone who’s closer to your age, someone who can share your future with you without fear of anything. I’m too old for you. You deserve someone who can be there for you in the way you need. Please… don’t keep holding onto these feelings for me. It’s better for both of us.”
