6:00 AM – A Nervous Mom and an Overconfident Mon
Freen woke up first. Again.
She had been doing that a lot lately—waking up before her alarm, staring at the ceiling, overthinking everything.
But today, she had a very specific reason.
Mon's first parent-teacher meeting.
Freen wasn't sure why she felt so nervous. Mon was bright, confident, and full of energy—a little too much energy sometimes. But still, Freen couldn't shake the feeling that this meeting was like some sort of evaluation of their parenting skills.
Was Mon adjusting well?
Was she listening to her teacher?
Was she making friends? As Freen lay there, lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt a tiny weight land on her stomach.
Thump.
She barely had time to react before a wild-haired, pajama-clad little human crawled onto her chest.
"Good morning, Mom!" Mon chirped, her bright eyes full of energy despite the fact that the sun had barely risen.
Freen groaned playfully, rubbing her face. "Baby, it's too early for this."
Mon giggled, wrapping her arms around Freen's neck. "You always say that. But I know you like it when I wake you up first."
Freen smirked, tickling Mon's sides until she squealed with laughter.
"Okay, okay, I give up!" Mon gasped between giggles, flopping onto the bed.
Becky, still half-asleep, reached out and pulled Mon into a cuddle.
"Mama's not awake yet," Becky mumbled, pressing a lazy kiss to Mon's forehead.
Mon giggled, snuggling between them. "I know, but I have important things to tell you!"
Freen raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? What's so important?"
Mon sat up, looking dead serious.
"My teacher said you and Mama are coming to school today."
Freen and Becky exchanged a glance.
"That's right," Becky said, rubbing her eyes. "It's our first parent-teacher meeting."
Mon nodded. "So I just wanted to warn you."
"Warn us?" Freen repeated, intrigued.
Mon crossed her arms, looking way too confident for a five year old.
"Yeah. Miss Anna loves me. So she's gonna say a lot of good things, but don't get too excited, okay?"
Becky burst out laughing. "Oh? You think we're gonna be too excited?"
Mon nodded solemnly. "Yes. Because I'm the best student ever."
Freen snorted. "The best ever?"
Mon nodded again. "Yep! So don't be surprised when Miss Anna tells you I'm amazing."
Freen and Becky both laughed, pulling their little girl into a tight hug.

8:30 AM – The Walk to School
It was a beautiful morning, and since Mon's school was only a few blocks away, they decided to walk.
Mon, as usual, was a ball of energy—skipping ahead, stopping to wave at neighbors, singing random songs about breakfast, her backpack bouncing behind her.
