Anil's expression softened completely.
"Then let me teach you," she said.
Pin finally looked up.
Met her eyes.
Saw nothing but sincerity.
Nothing but patience.
Nothing but love.
So she took a deep breath—
And nodded.
Anil reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box. Her fingers trembled slightly as she opened it to reveal a delicate promise ring, a tulip engraved on the face. "Pin," she began, her voice unsteady but firm, "will you be my girlfriend?"
Pin's breath hitched as she stared at the ring. It was beautiful, and she realized Anil had been holding onto it all this time, waiting for this moment. Anil's eyes never left hers, the sincerity deepening.
Pin looked from the ring back to Anil, her heart swelling with emotion.
"Yes," she whispered, her voice thick with feeling.
Anil smiled, her face lighting up with relief and joy, and gently slipped the ring onto Pin's finger. It was a promise—of love, of trust, of forever.
And just like that, Pin had her forever.
------------
The second Pin said yes, Anil demanded to meet her parents.
Because obviously, this was a big deal.
Pin groaned.
Anil was too excited for her own good.
"I really don't see why this is necessary," Pin muttered as they stood outside her house.
Anil smirked.
"Because I want to see where my adorable girlfriend gets her shyness from."
Pin scowled.
Anil laughed.
And then—
The door opened.
Pin's fingers tightened around Anil's.
"Mom? Mama?" she called hesitantly.
Footsteps approached.
And then—
Freen appeared, smiling warmly.
Pin sighed in relief.
Her mom Freen was the nice one.
"Hello, sweetie," Freen greeted gently. Then she turned to Anil. "And you must be Anilaphat."
Anil immediately straightened.
"Yes, ma'am," she said, her usual confidence showing. "It's an honor to meet you."
Freen chuckled.
"No need for 'ma'am.' Just Freen is fine."
Anil grinned.
"Yes, ma'—I mean, Freen."
Everything was going great.
Until—
"Who's this?"
Anil turned—
And met the piercing gaze of Becky Armstrong.
Pin panicked.
Because Becky?
Becky didn't move.
Didn't blink.
Just stared.
Anil, to her credit, stood her ground.
Pin, however, wanted to die.
"Mama, this is Anil—"
"I know who she is," Becky cut in, her voice sharp.
Pin gulped.
Anil?
Completely unfazed.
Becky crossed her arms.
"Tell me, Anil," she said, tilting her head. "What do you want with my daughter?"
Pin squeezed Anil's hand.
Tried to telepathically tell her to shut up and be careful.
Anil ignored it.
Met Becky's gaze head-on.
And, without hesitation—
"I love her."
Silence.
Utter.
Complete.
Silence.
Pin's heart stopped.
Becky's eyes narrowed.
Freen?
Grinned.
And then—
Becky suddenly burst out laughing.
"Oh my god," Becky gasped, gripping Freen's arm. "She's literally ME."
Anil blinked.
"...What?"
Becky wiped at her eyes, looking between Anil and Pin.
"Oh, this is hilarious. You really went and fell for a girl exactly like me, didn't you, Pin?"
Pin blushed furiously.
"I— That's—not true!"
Becky smirked.
"She's cocky, fearless, flirty, and head over heels in love with you. Sound familiar?"
Pin groaned, covering her face.
Anil?
Anil just grinned.
"That's an honor, actually," she said. "I mean, you're an icon."
Becky raised a brow.
"Flattery won't save you."
Anil smirked.
"I don't need saving."
Becky stared.
Anil stared right back.
And then, after what felt like forever—
Becky smirked.
"I like her."
Pin's head snapped up.
"...What?"
Becky shrugged.
"She's got guts. And she loves you."
Anil grinned triumphantly.
Pin groaned again.
Freen just laughed.
And just like that—
Anil was officially part of the family.
