From that day on, I gave Severus and Lily their space. Whenever Severus and I happened to run into each other, Lily was there. Therefor, him and I haven't been able to exchange much of words more than just 'hello's'. And I feel like I'm acting very short when talking to him - even I try not to. Urgh. Then again, I need to remember my place. Remember, how our whole friendship started: it was my duty to help Severus get in with Lily. And now that they are perhaps closer than ever... I can't stand it. Severus haven't seem to miss my presence either. Since he hasn't made any gesture to make time us to be alone together. Then again, what was I expecting? If it's true what Lily said about... 'Me holding her place' when she was busy, it's no wonder he doesn't feel the need to be in contact with me.
But I try to look at the bright side: now that I don't have anyone waiting for me after classes, I've been able to focus on what I promised to focus on: becoming an Auror. No distractions. It hasn't been easy. But I think I manage. It's been now two months since the school started. And I feel like I've been able to keep up with every class and homework there has been so far. Tonks has been also busy with her Quidditch practicing, so the only times we've been able to hang out together are the moments when we head to bed. What comes to Remus, he does hang out with his friends as usual, but he does make the effort to come check up on me. Whenever we happen to see each other at the corridors or in the Great Hall for brief moment. But I haven't been able to just sat down and talk to anyone in proper manner. And I miss it. Keep your head high, (Y/N). Focus on studying and you'll be fine.
Halloween celebration came around, and after the official ceremony was over, everyone scattered around the castle to spend some time with their friends while enjoying the sweets and so on. Heard some of the staff even went to the Hogsmeade for drinks. Don't know if it's true or not, but... Then again, it is Friday after all. My steps softly echoes around the place as I walk along one of the corridors. I just came back from the Owl Tower. It's comforting how aunt-Ruby and I've been able to send letter back and forth during these first months. Like we agreed: we use a different owl each time. So it takes me a little effort to make the trip to the tower and pick an owl. The weather is getting colder each day. "Bugger off!" someone snapped just around the corner. Hm?
For a moment there, I stand still. Wondering if I was hearing things. But then, I couldn't help myself, so I quietly approached the corner to take a peek what was going on. For my surprise, it's Narcissa Black and Amycus Carrow. It took me a second longer to recognize both of them, since they are wearing their more 'fancier clothes', and not their school robes or the usual sweaters and trousers I'm used to see them in outside the classes. Wonder what they are doing? The Slytherin girl has her back against the wall while the boy is towering over her. And the way his body slightly sways does seem like he has something else to drink other than pumpkin juice. "Come on, Cissy. I saw how you were looking at me just back there. You don't have to hide it." Amycus smirked loosely. "If you're talking about how disgustedly I looked at you, then yes. That's not something I'd hide." she spat back, arms crossed over her chest, clearly not enjoying the attention from her House mate.
It is now clear Amycus has cornered Narcissa against her will and is trying to make a move on her. After some back and forth bickering, Amycus lifted her gaze back up to him by grabbing under her chin:"No one has to know. Not even... Your prosperous boyfriend - who's not even here anymore. So what's the harm?". This sparked an anger in Narcissa and she slapped the hand away from her face:"Sod off!!". Amycus quickly grabbed her by the wrist and smirked:"I like a girl with feisty attitude.". Like I have no control of my own body, I step behind the corner and my stern voice echoed around the corridor:"Cut it out, Amycus, and leave her be!". "Huh?" both of them turned to take a glance at my way. They look little bit surprised to see me, but Amycus quickly composes himself:"You...". Regret went quickly through me, but what else I was supposed to do? I can't leave her to deal with him all alone. I need to do something.
