The next day, I decided to talk to the group, to tell them the truth, at least, half of it. I saw a look from Jeremy and Odd; they are suspicious. I looked at Aelita. I could see she sensed something was off, but she brushed it off.

"Maybe we could use your help to defeat XANA, once and for all," she said. I smiled, it's a fake smile, of course. She was my childhood friend, I loved her, but now? I hate her. She and her 'hero' friends think they are saving the world? Seriously? That's so pathetic.

10 PM

I went to the factory, I have a time limit to do this.

I turn on the program of self-virtualisation, rush into the scanners.

I was in the desert and got into the tower. The interface appeared again, and I put my hand on it.

Code Lyra.

Code XANA.

Tower activated.

"XANA, I activated the tower," I said.

"Good, I'll get you back. Remember, hide in the room where we met, the first time, until they call you." XANA said.

XANA deleted my Lyoko activity; others were in Lyoko, while I stayed with Jeremy in the main room. I had my laptop and a special program with it. When they deactivate the tower, with this program, I activate another.

"This is weird..." Jeremy said.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Aelita deactivated the tower in the desert, but XANA activated another one in the forest," Jeremy explained.

"That never happened before?" I asked.

"Never," Jeremy said.

They are starting to get suspicious. They suspect that something is off.

I heard on comms, Odd made I joke.

"The towers are acting weirder than usual." Odd joked, and only he laughed. I laughed with him, but from the inside.

After I finally let them activate the tower. I was in my room, and I saw XANA.

"Hey," I said.

"I want to show you something," he said, and in another moment, we were not in my room anymore.

We are at my old house. I saw myself, I was six years old, and my Mom was nowhere to be seen. I saw my...Dad. We were in the living room.

Six-year-old Lyra

I was playing with my dolls. Mom went out to get some stuff from the store, while Dad kept losing eye on me. In one moment, Dad kneels in front of me and whispers:

"Trust him. He'll protect you."

I looked at the screen of his laptop, and a red eye flickered behind the screen. Tower lights blink.

Sixteen-year-old Lyra

We are back in my room. I looked at XANA. His hand was on mine.

"You can trust me, Lyra," he said.

I heard a knock on my door, and I stood up and opened it.

"Aelita?" I asked.

"Lyra, we need to talk," she said as she stepped inside.

We sat on the bed. I looked at her.

"I started to remember something," she said.

"What?" I asked.

"We used to be friends," she said.

"When we were kids," she continued.

"It's not like that anymore, Aelita., I said.

"You are on XANA's side, aren't you?" she asked, and I just kept looking at her.

"Lyra, XANA is dangerous. He will destroy all of us, kill all of us. Don't let him manipulate you, to trap you—" she started.

"I'm not like you, Aelita. Maybe you're the one trapped in the past." I said.

I stand before a glowing tower alone, the reflection of the crimson light in my eyes. I had learned the truth... and the truth had chosen me.
