The month had passed quietly, full of slow healings, sweet mornings, and soft reassurances.
Jungkook never pushed Taehyung to talk, but his Koo never let him carry anything alone either.
Every silent pain, every flicker of fear in Taehyung's eyes, Jungkook countered with patience and love.
And right now, as he stood in the bedroom doorway with a small, leather weekender bag tossed over his shoulder, he watched Taehyung sit cross legged on the bed, flipping through a red book with furrowed brows and zero intention of moving.
"You will be with... your team, the higher-ups... their spouses. I'm not one of them."
Jungkook dropped the bag with a soft thud and walked over. "You're too higher-up. Also your fiance is Jeon Jungkook," he said smirking proudly.
Taehyung closed the book and looked up at him with tired eyes. "I just... I don't want to be stared at, judged, whispered about behind our back."
"You think I care?" Jungkook asked gently, kneeling on the edge of the bed.
"This trip is to celebrate the people who gave everything to make the project work. You were there with me in every step, feeding me when I forgot, helping me revise that stupid ass report at 2 a.m., reminding me to take rest, loving me when I was too stressed to love myself."
"You didn't do it alone," Jungkook said. "And I don't want to celebrate without you."
Taehyung looked away. "It's not that simple, Jungkook..."
"I know it's not," Jungkook said, reaching to cup Taehyung's cheek. "But I also know you need a break. We both do. A few days away from everything, no barking puppies, no ringing phones, no fear. Just you, me, a cozy hotel, and maybe that lakeside sunrise I promised to show you one day."
Taehyung blinked, caught off guard. "You remember that?"
"I remember everything you say when your voice is soft," Jungkook whispered, leaning closer. "That's how I know it matters."
Taehyung's lips twitched, his heart fluttering against the wall he'd built around it.
"Please come," Jungkook murmured. "Let them stare. Let them whisper. I'll be too busy looking at you. We need to live freely. How long will we keep living inside four walls? I want the world to know whom I love, who is going to be my wife, the one I want to grow old with."
