chapter nine
Jeremey:

"Go get some popcorn for sake of baby pandas!" She groaned, kicking me of my bed.

At around twelve thirty I heard someone knocking against my window. I opened it to find a brown haired Emma standing there, with a big smile and a ugly green jacket.

"What do you want?" I groaned.

"It's a movie night silly!" She held up a purple DVD with Tangled scrawled on it.

Damn she needs help.

I walked back into my room, popcorn in hand, and find her lying on my bed.

I wouldn't call Emma hot or sexy on a normal day. Normally Emma was a crazy girl with messy hair and a big smile. Emma would be borderline pretty according to society's standard.

God, I wished that was the case right now. I wish she just looked like a weird girl with messy hair, not like this. She had shredded her jacket long ago, and lay on her stomach. It was the stupid black top that seemed a little tight and exposed stuff. Stuff that guys aren't supposed to see, because its Em.

Even though I've seen a lot of skin of other girls, its different when its Emma. Its almost like I'm disrespectful towards her if I look a second too long.

But right now its one fifteen am, a pretty, hot girl is lying on my bed and I'm a hormonal teenage boy.

"Come on, Jer! It's starting!"

Snap out of it, Jeremey.

.

"Normally, I don't talk during movies, but do you want to talk?" She looked up to me. We were thirty minutes into the movie, and thank god I didn't do anything stupid.

"Yeah sure."

"You talk more at night, than you during daytime," she chuckled. "You're weird."

Of course Em, I'm the weird one.

"Can I ask you something?"

I nodded.

"Is it true?"

I knew what she meant, the rumours; the rehab. I nodded.

"Do you like your life?" She asked, softly.

I thought about it, "It's okay."

She hummed in response.

"Do you like yours?" I looked at her. She sat there for a moment in deep thought, until she shook her head.

No.

"Why?"

Her eyes stared into the screen, starting to look a little lost.

The guy and girl were sitting on a log in a forest, in the movie. I don't even know how they got there. The whole time I was staring at her; her laughing, singing, moving her lips along with the lines.

Maybe it was late night, or maybe it was just because it was Em, but I started saying things. Things I normally didn't say.

"I'll tell you a secret." I spoke as she stared at me with her warm brown eyes. "My dad's an asshole. He's got this alpha male personality and wants everything in his way. This whole house, is mine. I live here alone, because my dad can't be seen with me. He can't be seen with someone like me. He sent me to rehab and now he can't be seen with me."

Her brown eyes stared into mine, as she held my hand.

"Aren't you curious why he sent me there?"

"I'll be honest. I am, I'm so curious, but you tell me when you're ready. I can wait."

I expected her to move away slightly, to get scared slightly. I expected her to ask me why my father hated me. I expected her to ask me why I was sent away. I expected her to do something I know people normally did.

Instead she moved in closer, and rested her head on my chest. "Jer, watch this. This is the best part." She pointed to the screen. They were on a boat now with lanterns floating around them.

"Shouldn't you tell me something about you now?" I asked, as she lifted her head.

"No, not tonight. Tonight is your night." She smiled at me with the warmth of freshly baked cookies. "You're so much more than you think you are." She whispered as she kissed my forehead, rested my head on her shoulder and hugged me close.

"Em, I'm the one whose supposed to be doing this!"

"Stop being a pussy Jer, and just live with it. Societies' ideals are shit anyways." She pat my head.

"You need help, Em."
