chapter ten
Jeremey:
I guess all stupid things are done intentionally, in a moment of weakness, but so were the good things. In the past couple of days more good things have been happening than bad. I felt happy; strangely, greatly happier than I've left in so long.
When mum was alive, I think that's when I was truly happy. Every Sunday she would spend the whole day baking cookies and cupcakes. Every week the house would be filled with a homely aroma because of mum.
That's been missing, since she's gone.
Since she left I don't think I've ever truly been happy. But this morning when I woke up with an arm and leg sprawled over my body, I was truly happy.
Her damaged brown spread messily on her face, it looked suffocating being completely honest. I slowly moved the hair out of her face; suprising they were soft. I always thought they'd be rough like they seemed to be, but her hair was soft.
I saw her face and stifled a yelp.
Something was wrong. In movies and tv shows, they showed the girl as an angel while she's sleeping. Isn't that what Emma should look like too?
I stared at her face for a few seconds longer, and found a smile making its way. Em looked... its hard to explain exactly what she looked like. Her eyes were halfway open; she was sleeping with her eyes open. And she just looked... not normal, perfectly just like Em.
Did she ever do anything normally?
Her dark brown eyebrowns were arched downwards in worry, is she having a bad dream? I placed my index finger between her eyebrows and she instantly relaxes. Her eyes close fully as she snuggles further into the sheets.
Ba-dum. Ba-dum.
I put a hand to my heart. Why is it beating so loudly?
I looked at Em; at her lips. They looked soft and broken; kissable, tempting. I found myself leaning in closer. The thumping of my heart all blurred together. All I could see was Em and her lips; so inviting. All I could feel were our breathes softly hitting eachother. We're so close.
Her face was beautiful from this close. Her eyelashes casted a low shadow on her cheek. Every imperfection begged for attention, all mixing together to make a beautiful picture; a beautiful Em.
I was just a breath away from her when I felt her stir. I froze.
Her stiring started to become bigger movements as she started scratching her head, groaning. She muttered something that resembled a swear word and started giggling. I was a little frightened, but remained motionless.
She slowly opened her eyes still facing me. Her eyes grew huge upon finding us so close. Her wide brown eyes looked into mine, in shock. Her eyes scanned my face then stared into my eyes once again.
Think fast Jeremey.
"Boo." I whispered.
Emma let out a bloodcurdling scream as she fell out of bed.
I laughed.
This has to be the best way to start your day.
