| Hiro's POV |
"I know you're mad at me," Hiro says. He's walking you home from Fred's. The two of you have been alone together for ten minutes already and you haven't said a word. You don't even reply to Hiro's comment. You pull your arms up to your chest and shiver. Hiro realizes that your clothes are still damp. "Here," he says, shrugging out of his blue jacket. He pulls his arms out of the sleeves and holds the jacket out to you. You look at him but don't take it. "Come on. I can tell that you're cold. Baymax already dried this. Just take it."
You hesitantly take it from him and put it on. Hiro smiles at your appearance. You look adorable in his jacket. Hiro blushes. Did he really just think that? He looks away and shakes his head before turning back. "Um, can you at least tell me why you're mad?" he asks you.
"Seriously, Hiro?" you ask harshly. Hiro blinks in surprise at your sudden anger. "You almost killed us and you didn't even care."
Hiro rolls his eyes. "I didn't almost kill anyone. I had it all under control."
"Had what under control?" you ask. "The entire car went underwater! We were almost killed by that yokai, and you carelessly threw us in all of it!"
"Calm down, ___," Hiro says gently. "I wasn't going to let you get hurt."
"You sure didn't seem like that when you threw us right into a car chase through the entire city," you reply, angrily crossing your arms.
Hiro tries to not let his annoyance show. "Look, I had it under control. You weren't going to get hurt. Neither were Fred, Honey, Wasabi, or Go Go. I'm not helpless and I'm not stupid."
"I know you're not," you say calmly. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be angry at you."
"It's cool," Hiro says, "We're best friends, right? We're supposed to fight sometimes."
You crack a smile, "Yeah, I guess so." You look up and see your house just down the sidewalk. You start to remove Hiro's jacket. "Here-"
Hiro holds his hand up. "Keep it. You can give it back whenever."
"Thanks," you say, shoving your hands in the pocket. Hiro stands there awkwardly for a minute.
"Yeah, so, I'll see you tomorrow? That way we can start up on our suits," he says.
"Should I think of some ideas?" you ask.
Hiro nods. "Sure. But don't take purple. That's my color."
You laugh. "Purple, huh?"
"I know, but don't laugh. Just wait until you see how sick Baymax and I look," Hiro says.
"Alright. But I expect to see something awesome," you say.
"Trust me. You will."
Suddenly, you throw your arms around him. Hiro freezes in shock. "I'm just glad that you're okay," you say softly. Whether it's because he didn't drown in the bay or fall out of the moving car, or because he's actually been out and talking to people, he's not sure, but it's been months since he's had close human contact. He slowly moves his arms to wrap around you. He rests his chin on your shoulder and smiles. You pull away. "I'll see you."
"See you," he says, giving you a wave. You turn and cross your yard. Hiro doesn't breathe until you're inside because he felt the anxiety again. But this time, it wasn't the sickening, heartbreaking anxiety that he felt when he thought of Tadashi. It was happier. And he only feels it around you.
