A strange feeling went through me. I've always been baby. Always. Yeah, I told him to quit and back off, but he never has. It's our thing. That's what we do. He does things and I yell at him. We argue about everything, but that's why we're friends. If we got along, we wouldn't...be the same.
"I don't want you to back off." I whispered.
He laughed. "Then I won't back off baby."
I rolled my eyes and shoved him playfully. "You irritate me." I mumble
"And you enjoy every minute of it."
"Sometimes." I smiled.
I heard Adam's voice coming closer. He was talking about some bad experience with a squirrel or something.
"That just proves animals don't like you punk. It's why mom won't let us get a dog." Bently said as they came into view. He looked between me and Tyler. That was when I realized how little space was on this rock, close we were sitting together. "What's going on?" Bently asked, trying his hardest to be casual.
I shrugged. "Just talking."
I noticed Adam smirk at Tyler, but it was gone as soon as he saw me looking. What's up with that?
"So," Bently said. "I was thinking maybe we could go back to that club tonight after we get done here. I mean you said you wanted to go back when you actually had time to 'get ready' or something like that."
I looked at all three boys who were looking back at me expectantly. "When did I become the decision maker?"
"When you got into the car and we drove away from our house." Tyler said. "You're the guest."
"Oh, well I'm fine with whatever. If you want to go back, that's fine." I said. I don't like deciding for everyone.
Adam rolled his eyes. "That's a yes. We're going."
He seemed a lot more excited than he should be. He's fourteen. What can he do?
Apparently Tyler was thinking the same thing. "What are you so excited about punk?"
"I don't know. I just like it there. It's like one giant party."
I looked at Bently and smiled. "He's going to be a mini you in highschool."
Bently was a huge partier, and probably still is. He made it a point to hit up every single one. Even the ones that were out of town. If he knew about it, he was there.
He grinned. "There is nothing wrong with that at all."
"Yeah there is." Tyler said under his breath.
I elbowed him, before Bently could do something worse. "Be nice."
"Why should I be nice to him?"
"Because I can do a hell of a lot more damage to yo-" He glanced at me, cutting himself off.
Tyler smirked. "Go ahead. Finish that sentence. I want to hear exactly what you have to say."
"No, I think that's ok." Bently said, turning away. "Lets finish this hike."
Tyler jumped up beside me. "You just can't stand it when I'm right can you?! You slipped up, and you're not even man enough to admit it! You always have to be mister perfect! Well let me tell you something, one day, you're going to mess up, and I'll be there to watch the perfect little reputation that you have built up to fool everybody fall into a million little pieces!" Bently kept walking, not phased by anything Tyler was saying. Tyler realized this too, because he stopped. He closed his eyes, and ran a hand through his hair.
