HANNA'S P.O.V
Good morning.
Pretty sure last night I passed out in Luke's couch, like I've been doing at almost every late night party he threw for the last fifteen years. Not to be rude, but with Luke, I know I would end up in a comfy bed, regardless.
But hey I was in my room. What a surprise he chose the hard way to carry me back home.
"Sleepy head." That's the first word dad said to me with little smirk plastered on his face. "Morning."
"Good morning." I yawned. "I suppose to go to school in thirty minutes."
"In thirty minutes as of when?" He checked the clock.
"I don't know, 7:30 I guess?"
"Wake up kid, it's almost nine now."
"Oh shoot!" I choked. "Why didn't somebody wake me up?"
"Well I don't know, you didn't open your eyes, I guess?" Dad copied my previous line with of course, sarcastic note applied.
"I have biology team to work on!"
Dad was about to lecture me about morning rush that I obviously have been having the problem of, but nah, I sprinted back to my room way faster than his first word. For later class, daddy. I didn't need my professor to kill me. Those books I bought from the store yesterday, they would be tested today to the team members. If I didn't get to go to school by any seconds right now, wouldn't I be so dead?
"Sandwiiiiich!" Mom brought up a slice of it.
"I have no time!"
"Yes you do." She sneaked the lunch box inside my bag. "If not for breakfast, then for lunch. Off to go."
"Car key?" I searched the entire cabinet.
"Off to go." Mom repeated.
"How I suppose-" I heard a horn from outside, the signature horn. "Okay bye."
"Bye." Mom and dad waved.
I hopped into his car. That smirk. I really wanted to slap anyone now because too in hurry that I wasn't sure what to do first anymore. Luke chuckled and drove. Fast. Yeah, he knew me. My morning was always like a race.
"Sorry I passed out last night." I opened the conversation after the first ten minutes stuggling to chew my sandwich.
"Don't you always?" He laughed.
"What time did you bring me back home?"
"Around midnight, or like before that. Toby helped me."
"What? He did? You guys met my mom, then?"
"Yeah I introduced Toby to your mom and she seemed okay. Toby's a nice person after all."
"Oh thank God. Well I'm surprised she didn't talk about it this morning."
"Yet." Luke raised an eyebrow.
"Right." I sighed.
Luke stared at me during our last traffic light stop before school gate. He studied me. Every inch of my face. Moments like this, no matter how many years we've spent our lives together, he always successfully made me insecure.
"What?" I broke the silence.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"What if one of my friends from last night kinda have crush on you?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know how?"
"First, Lukey, it's highly unlikely. I did absolutely zero effort to make people like me last night. I even passed out, not knowing how many people saw that embarrassing moment. And second, no, just don't."
"What if his presence is significant enough already?"
"You mean who? Please? I have no time for a chat."
Luke was signaling something that I somewhat knew the answer of. I shook my head. And bad habit, we started the glare battle again, in the car.
"Strongly disagree." I rolled my eyes.
"He's a good guy. Why not?"
"Because I have biology stuff?" I grabbed my bag. "Thanks for the ride."
"He asked us to come to his show." Luke stopped me.
"Tell him I'm busy."
"Too late. I've told you we're going together."
"When is it again?"
"This weekend. You're gonna love him."
Luke stopped talking. Looking nervous. And I was giving him the 'excuse me?' look too. No way, I completely heard what he said.
"Don't ever try, dude."
"Well whatever, come with me to Before You Exit's show this weekend. End of discussion."
I just about to open my mouth but all Luke left me was some dust from his high-speed move. He disappeared by the front gate. Luke didn't have class today so he only dropped me off like that.
I walked to my locker with bunch of thoughts in my head. He didn't correct the 'you're gonna love him' part and it's kinda disturbing to hear. Luke must currently be aiming something. And I didn't like secrets.
But wait. Did Luke want to tell me that the friend he think was likely liking me from last night...was Toby?
