HANNA'S P.O.V
"Hann? Dinner time."
Felt a soft touch on my cheek. I slowly opened my eyes and found a figure sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Toby?"
"Sorry I have to walk in. I've knocked but you didn't answer."
"No problem at all. My bad I passed out literally." I yawned. "Did I hear dinner time?"
"Yes. Everybody's waiting downstairs."
"Oh absolutely. I'm so sorry. I'll do quick change and be there in less than two minutes."
"Hahaha. Take your time girl. Connor's been stealing food, anyway. No need to rush."
"Should've that been you?"
"Ouch." Toby winked. "Want me to wait?"
"I'm good. Meet you downstairs."
"Alright."
He said alright but still didn't move. We had an intense stare down for a good minute. Slowly stroked my hair, he smiled, and finally closed my room door.
What was that for?
Without further wait, I washed my face, get as casual as possible with simple ponytail and a little make up but not too much, and I chose to wear my black dress. Nothing too crazy. Just wanted to appreciate the McDonough family for having me with them.
"Hanna? Ah...you look so pretty!" Joan conveyed her impression of me with such a big smile on her face.
"C'mon Joan, not as beautiful as you are." I joined her in the kitchen. "You need a help?"
"Boys? Look at this." She suddenly yelled to them.
"What, mom?" Riley turned around.
"This is a perfect example of 'helping mom in the kitchen' looks like. After all these years, you finally get the meaning of it." She rolled her eyes.
I laughed hard. "Daughters and sons, that's how parents differ us, right?"
"Damn right." Mark added. "Okay people, gather up."
"I've been here. Where else to gather." Connor sat on his seat excitedly.
"Look who's the 21 year old." Riley smirked.
"You stop that." Connor threw a tissue to his brother.
"Interesting bond." I shook my head couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright alright stop. Can't you two reset that? Look at Toby. He's set and calm." Mark commended Toby.
"Yeah? He's set because Hanna's around." Riley sighed. "Oh ouch! You don't have to kick me!"
"Just... Man, don't do that." Toby groaned.
I laughed. It's so hard not to crack up that shell at this point because this family was insanely amazing and funny. No different with my own. Dinner's joke was always around. Must say I just had one of best family dinners ever. We laughed like a real family. As if I was their little sister. Even Mark didn't stop laughing.
"Girl, stop helping me with the dishes. Go with Toby." Joan pushed me softly only to tell me to leave.
"Go with Toby?" I nervously asked. Damn, what did he say to his mother.
"Yeah. He asked me if he could have a walk with you after dinner." She scanned me head to toe. "And you certainly have dressed up."
"Oh my gosh." I giggled.
