It is Christmas day, and everything is quiet. Mariana has taken the day off to spend the night at the Black residence. Billy invited Quil, Embry, the Dennings, the Clearwater's and the Swans to a great Christmas party. Avery is overly excited to be spending Christmas with her new friends and was curious to finally meet Jacob's old friend, Bella Swan as she has been the topic of conversation the last couple days.

Jacob and Avery were getting even closer than before. Jacob continued to come by Avery's house, spending minimum of four hours there everyday. Avery enjoyed his company more than anyone else's. He's fun, and super into making Avery smile and laugh, which she liked because he didn't even have to try.

Avery searches through her closet and dresser, trying to find something wearable for tonight's event. She decides on a black long sleeved shirt, a pair of denim skinny jeans, and black leathered boots that had mini heels on them. Mariana curls Avery's hair for her, and whistles like a man in the streets as Avery does a little spin. They both share a laugh as Avery continues with her makeup.

She's excited to be meeting some of Jacob's friends other than Quil and Embry, who she had already grown fond of. Embry is secretly her favorite after Jacob. He's just been more available than Quil lately. And anyways, Quil is always hurt but with no explanation as to why. It's not like he's fighting with wolves, she joked to herself.

The Dennings sisters held on tight to each other as they stepped on the icy pavement, crossing the street to their neighbors home. Despite running fashionable behind, there were still no foreign cars parked in the driveway of the Black residence, suggesting that none of the others guests had arrived yet.

They wait a second after ringing the doorbell and a jolly Billy Black answers, grinning ear to ear with his long hair pulled back in a ponytail today. The brightness of Billy's sweater catches Avery's attention.

"You didn't tell me it was ugly sweater themed" Mariana jokes. Billy cracks a chuckle and points his beer at Mariana. The two had also gotten close over the weeks. Being people don't normally come to live on the Rez, Billy had taken the extra step in befriending the adult neighbor. And aside from that, his son was spending most of his free time there, and vice versa with Avery, so the two adults have made sure to keep communication very open between them.

"Looks like you got the memo anyway" Billy fires back. He moves out the way, inviting the two girls inside.

Walking in, Avery sees the three familiar faces of her new friends, each caught up in their own world, play fighting. It takes both Embry and Quil to bring Jake to the ground. She giggles to herself, watching them play, then blushes when Jacob gets them both to the ground, flexing his muscles.

Jacob notices Avery and Mariana talking to Billy. Avery's eyes to wander and land on Jacob once again. They exchange smiles before Jacob walks over to the group, Quil and Embry following close behind.

"Hey  guys" Jacob excitedly greets. Mariana and Jacob exchange hugs as well as Avery and Jacob.

The adults of the group head to the kitchen for the egg nog Billy had prepared, while the four 14 year olds follow Jacob into his room.

The doorbell rings but Billy calls out to the teens, telling them he got it. Jacob smiles when he sees the Swans outside. Charlie and Bella Swan to be correct. Bella hadn't been to visit Forks in a while, so Jacob was elated to hear his childhood friend was moving back to their hometown.

Jacob rushes out of the room, Quil, Embry and Avery right behind him. Avery is left all the way in the back since she has no clue who the Swans are and why the boys are so excited to see them.

Avery had taken her words back when she was met with chief Charlie Swan. He is the most respected police officer out here in Forks, Washington. Everybody knew Chief Swan. Well, she hasn't known him, she just had seen him driving around, and had heard the chatter about him. Small town gossip always seems to spread like wildfire. Especially with all the animal attacks occurring lately.

Avery notices that Bella is a bit shy. She stays close behind her father as Billy introduce Mariana and Avery to the Swans. Bella is the complete opposite of Avery, who's an extrovert and with an outgoing and firm personality.

"It's nice to meet you" Charlie says, sticking his hand out to Mariana. She gladly takes it, a smile on her face.
