I can remember it as if it were yesterday: my first day at DWMA.
If we're being honest, I never thought it would come to this. I was just a rebellious teen trying to get around, not saying that I haven't changed. I just never expected this to happen. I never expected to find a prefect home.
I was just a street rat, stealing, killing, and fight whoever and whatever threaten my life. I would sleep here and there, not really sure finding a stable home. It wasn't until I bumped into some kids. One was wearing all black clothes with some gray and white designs, his hair had three white stripes on one side and the rest was black. Two taller girls, both blondes and probably sisters, were at his side in the shape of twin guns. They almost mistook me for the enemy if it were for my speed. What would you expect? A crazy girl, her hands the shape of guns and in fighting mode, in the alley of a rainy city. You would suspect something wrong was up.
"Hey!" I barrel rolled away from the kid as a bullet missed me. "What where you're shooting that thing!" I shot a couple of bullets back."Would you kindly get out of our way," he blocked the hits with a counter shot, "we have somewhere to be." I moved and hid behind a near by alley. I looked at him in confusion of why he wasn't understanding.
"You were the one who shot me first! What was I supposed to do about it? Get shot?" I shot more bullets at him. "Get killed by a brat like you?" I hit a nerve because the next thing he did was unleash his true power. I was shocked by his power. Who knew there could be so much of that in just that one kid? It was so much! This also meant that if I didn't move I could potentially get killed.
That's when I was brought to the academy.
I met Lord Death. This guy hiding behind a black robe and a white mask, that makes his voice more annoying than it needs to. "What's your name?"
"Name's Coraline. Coraline Jones." He seemed to smile as he read my soul and my potential.
"Would you like a real home?" When he said this, I felt challenged. And boy do I love challenges. So that was the beginning of my first day at DWMA. The classes I passed with flying colors. Training, did with my eyes closed. Test, could do in my sleep. Lord Death noticed this in my first week and him decided to upgrade me and gave me one of DWMA's strongest meister.
That's when I met him. He seemed like a laid back teacher, gray hair, pale yellow eyes. I was almost regretting it when we fought our first battle together. He was powerful and I was challenged to beat him. His soul seemed easy to match but he had a lot of tricks under his sleeve. For the first time, I lost to someone stronger than me. That's when our relationship started. As we were sent to missions and trips, we were able to learn about each other, to the point that I was forced, by Lord Death, to live with him. Which, sadly, I did.
From then on, I felt closer to him than ever. People said he was crazy, that he has a screw lose. But heck, I do too. Sure he would slip from time to time, but he sure doesn't lose it. I make sure he doesn't.
"Hey, Coraline! You coming!" I guess there are things that one can't let go of. I stand up from my computer and head out the door where Stein was waiting for me.
"You couldn't wait for 5 more minutes? I was typing something." He chuckled sending a grin up my lips.
"You had all morning." We moved out towards DWMA, where it all started.
"So, what are we going to eat?" I said as I stretched my arms.
"You sure love food." I laugh a bit.
"Of course! I love food!" We kept walking until the familiar DWMA building was shining in the morning light. The grinning sun was just rising as student start filing into the school building.
At that time, I wasn't prepared for what was to come.
It was the beginning of something terrible.
