He stood up, crimson pools glaring at a very fidgety Sonic. Flashing a nervous smile at the blue one, you were dragged into the hallway outside the dining room, disappearing from his view.

"Before you say anything in your defence, hear me out." He said, red eyes finally making contact with your own confused (e/c) ones. You nodded, giving him an affirmative hum. "He wasn't able to help you in time when you got kidnapped, and something could have happened to you." As he paused, you sighed, cheeks in multiple shades of pink.

"Thank you for your concern, Shadow. But he was there just in time. I'm here and safe now, right? Plus, he saved me from falling this morning!" You extended your hands out beside you, showing him that you didn't have a scratch on you. Smiling, you closed the gap between you and Shadow as you embraced him, his cheeks lighting up like a flame. Once you released him, much to your surprise and joy, he stepped forwards and embraced you again, taking in a whiff of your scent; cinnamon, and a little bit of vanilla. Quickly pushing you away, he mumbled an apology, composing himself before his face returned to the usual set-in-stone expression.

"I'm sorry for saying what I did out there. I didn't mean for it to sound so harsh." He nodded, indicating that you were forgiven. Deciding that this was a good time to clear the air about multiple things, you hesitantly began to ask a question. "I have some questions, Shadow. Promise me you won't lie about any of the answers." You said, lower lip quivering as you extended your pinky towards him.

He grunted, extending his own and wrapping it around yours, rolling his eyes slightly. "Childish human." You gaped your mouth open, slightly smacking his arm. The next sights made your heart beat quicken, blood rush to your face, and make you feel light-headed.

Slowly, the corners of Shadows lips twitched upwards, forming a perfect smile. He smiled. At you. Keeping your fangirling to a minimum, your eyes began to memorize every dip and curve in his smile, never wanting to forget it. His smile became wider when your pinky tightened its grip on his, causing your stomach to do backflips, while you were almost certain that he could hear your heartbeat. You unsuccessfully tried to form sentences, only to blush harder. You began to feel dizzy so you stumbled backwards, taking a seat on the carpeted stairs behind you, a hand placed over your heart while another was on your face, trying to cool it down.

He frowned, pinky still extended. "That is what I was supposed to do, right?" He tilted his head to the side, his dark ears flattening, ruby red eyes slightly widened. Whatever remaining blood was left rushed to your face and you choked on your saliva. "S-stop," you managed to wheeze out. His actions were making you feel more and more light headed, and it was too overbearing for you. Instantly he straightened up and backed away, looking like a frightened cat, ears flattened against his head.

"Do you need some water?" After you nodded furiously, he disappeared and reappeared within seconds, holding a glass of water. He held it out to you, one hand soothingly rubbing your back and you downed the cold liquid.

"Thank you," you breathed out, wiping your lips with your sleeve. With a curt nod, he took the glass and placed it on the floor, lowering himself and sitting criss cross in front of you.

"You had questions?" He prompted, motioning with his hand to continue.

"Why don't you smile often?" You blurted out, not thinking twice. Because it could give girls heart attacks. You cursed the sarcastic conscience, paying full attention to Shadows answer.

He paused, looking for the right words. "I don't have a reason to smile anymore. What gives you happiness? What makes you smile?"

"Family, friends, other loved ones. What do you mean, anymore?"

He raised an eyebrow, a question arising but he swallowed it down. "I don't have any of those. That is why I choose not to smile. I did, when I was first created. While you were gone at school when we first met, I had to find information on everything about my life before I was in your basement. The man who created me used to reside in this home. I was named "Project Shadow." An alien by the name of Black Doom gave his blood to me, therefore making me immortal. The man who created me had a niece, and she had NIDS. My blood was supposed to cure her, but the government feared my power and had the project shut down. Maria and I were friends."

"Alright," you said, trying to absorb what he had just told you, "but then why did you smile just now?"

Seemingly frustrated with your question, he looked into your (e/c) eyes before continuing. "Because, I think I have found another friend."

A warm feeling welled up inside you, and you began to pester him with other questions. "Why did you stay with me?"

He shrugged, responding lazily. "There was nowhere else I could go. I had to stay here, even if it was with a human like yourself, due to the fact that the chamber I was awoken from was stored in your basement."

You feigned hurt, placing a hand over your heart and opening your mouth. Laughing, you asked another question randomly. "Have you ever fallen in love?"

"No, but I think I might have fallen." A light blush dusted his cheeks, but you disregarded it.

Excited but slightly disappointed, you began to think of who it could be. Rouge, maybe? Maybe it's that pink caveman. Oh god no. Giving up, you looked into his bright red eyes, looking for a clue.

After several awkward moments of silence, you raised an eyebrow. "Well? Aren't you going to tell me who the lucky girl is?"

"I was hoping you'd ask." He replied, his face still as stoic as ever.

You let out a squeal of surprise when he grabbed your leg and pulled you into his lap, locking his hands around your waist. A bright blush adorned your face, but his was still monotone.

He placed his lips on yours, the taste of mint on his tongue. Your body reacted on its own; your eyes were shut, and your lips moved in sync with his, your hands tangling themselves in his raven and crimson locks. He put more force into the kiss, hungrily claiming your lips in a passionate fight. You could feel the white fluff on his chest rub against your neck, causing you giggle into the kiss.

A voice broke through the silence.

"What's taking so--(y/n)?"
