You ran out the door, your keys slightly jingling in your pocket, the wind tousling your (h/c) tresses as you bolted down the sidewalk. Your phone was still in your pocket, meaning that you could still contact him if you needed to. Your mind worked a thousand steps per minute, as all the possible conclusions to your current problem played out in your head. Either Sonic would accept your apology or he wouldn't. Plain and simple. You crossed your fingers as the rush of air towards your face caused your (e/c) eyes to water, emitting a string of cuss words from your lips, your vision becoming blurry.

Finally out of breath, you stalked to a nearby vending machine, a scowl painting your face. You inserted whatever leftover cash you had, the machine letting out a satisfied ding! as your water bottle fell. Thirstily downing the refreshing liquid, a content sigh escaped you as you discarded the water bottle in a nearby trashcan. You wiped your mouth on the back of your hand, sighing contentedly. The sun beat down on you, relentlessly frowning upon your sad figure.

Again beginning to search, your eye caught a flash of blue. I've got him! Your heart raced, excitement clouding your mind. You mentally cheered, running towards him with as much speed as you could handle, (h/c) locks flying behind you. "Sonic-"

Your smile fell when he turned around. It wasn't Sonic. His eyes were a murky brown, and his smile wasn't as charming. Apologizing to the kind stranger, you began to walk around, not leaving a single corner unseen. Your (e/c) pools darted left and right, trying to catch so much as a glimpse of the handsome hedgehog. Where could he be? A thought surfaced in your brain as your eyes lit up, a laugh escaping your pink lips. You walked forwards, bumping into almost everyone on the sidewalk.

Finally, the familiar silhouette of the local park neared, causing you to jump excitedly. Again running towards it, your eyes darted everywhere, trying to catch a glimpse of a familiar blue. Nearing the playground, you kicked the gravel, walking to the swings upon seeing nobody here except a few small children. Frowning, you seated yourself on a swing, gripping the cold iron chains firmly before gently swaying yourself back and forth. Disappointment swirled in you like mist.

A breeze whipped by, causing you to slightly shiver, your arms automatically wrapping themselves around you. Kicking harder at the ground, your feet left the gravel, swinging freely. Euphoria filled you, entirely forgetting about your goal.

A screech left your lips as the swing crashed into someone, and an irritated grunt could be heard. You turned around, eyebrows furrowed in frustration.

"Woah! I didn't see ya there--(y/n)?" His mouth was left agape, an eyebrow raised in question. A forced smile made its way onto his face, his eyes avoiding your own.

"Sonic," you breathed, taking in his handsome features; his bright green hues, the sun reflecting off of them and bringing out the small yellow flecks within them. His soft blue quills danced in the breeze, making him appear heroic. The way his chest rose and fell, probably because he was running. His stance; that open, friendly stance that you had come to love. You gently smiled at him, causing him to cock his head to the side, making you slightly blush.

"(Y/n)?" He nudged you a little bit, jolting you back into reality.

You sheepishly laughed, biting your lip softly. Calming down, you stepped closer to him, your chests almost touching. "I'm sorry. For everything." Tears threatening to fall, you continued. "We do have something special. I'm sorry I didn't realize sooner. I love you, Sonic the Hedgehog. And nothing will change that." You rubbed the back of your neck, taking a quick glance at his eyes that were widened in surprise.

He hesitated, causing you to internally panic. "I love you too, (y/n). But what about Shadow?"

"We'll talk to him." You chuckled, tears still clouding your dull (e/c) pools. "I've been looking for you for over an hour. I think I deserve some compensation." You flirted, causing Sonic to smile and wrap his arms around your figure.

Slowly, he placed his lips on yours, claiming them sweetly. Your hands rested on his chest, tracing patterns onto his chest, causing him to giggle. Your bodies were pulled flush against each other, a bright pink covering both of your faces, hearts hammering against chests.

Parting, your hands swayed between your figures, the sun still at its peak. You two shared a loving gaze before Sonic leaned in to give you a quick peck on the lips. Your heart was still hammering, but you couldn't help but smile at your situation.

"At least you aren't with a pink caveman."
