Barry came back, followed by the creature.
"Did you even go?" I yelled.
"Did you figure out how to stop it?" Barry yelled.
Cisco shot it with the gun he had made. It simply shrieked in pain and anger.
"Damn, we thought so!" I groaned.
"Barry!" I yelled, as the Time Wraith neared him.
The Time Wraith shrieked again, hissed, and dissolved.
"I suddenly realized," Hartley said, "Low frequency, high intensity."
"I knew that." Cisco said, rolling his eyes.
Hartley greeted Barry, who gave him a weird look.
He spoke in Latin, and I laughed, patting him on the shoulder.
"No one speaks Latin around here anymore, Hartley."
"Well, as always, it's been a pleasure working with you all on this little project." Hartley said. "if you need anything in the future, call me."
"I'm off to a late dinner." He said, walking towards the door.
"Mm, dinner. Anyone special?" I said, winking at him."Very." He smiled. "My parents."
Barry gave him another strange look as he left.
"So, the speed equation? Did you figure it out?" I asked.
We followed him to the pedestal in the time vault. I looked at it anxiously, remembering both Gideon's words, as well as the kiss Barry and I shared.
He inserted a small flash drive. "Maybe it's password protected?" Cisco suggested.
Barry grew angry, and hit the pedestal with his fist, causing the blue light of the equation to appear.
"We got it." I said, giddy.
Cisco went to go figure out the speed equation, Caitlin following. This left me and Barry in the time vault.
There was a silence, until he said my name at the same time I said his.
"You go first." He said.
I started to apologize, saying that I don't know what came over me and that we should put the whole thing behind us, but he cut me off.
"Aurora, do you know what Dr. Wells said to me when he discovered who I was and locked me in the Time Vault?"
I shook my head.
"He asked about you."
I looked at him shocked.
"He asked just how far in the future I was from. He asked if you had become what you were meant to be."
My face paled.
"When I had asked if he had meant Flicker, he simply laughed at me, saying that it was good that it wasn't that far ahead in time. He simply said to be wary of my actions with you." Barry said.
"And you've been avoiding me. Iris said you had a crush on me since forever, and I never thought so, considering you refused to even try to go further in our relationship. I think you know something I don't."
Oh, you have no idea.
I sighed. "Before I joined team Flash, and I was running around solo, I snuck into STAR Labs to place microphones to make sure that you guys wouldn't find out about me or my past. I had to hide from Harry, so I went into the Time Vault. I touched the pedestal, and it turned on."
"I thought Gideon was erased from existence with Thawne?" Barry said, listening intently.
"She was. Somehow, she came back on. She said she would only do that at my touch, and only for the first time. She said she was programmed that way, by you."
Barry nodded. "Future me created her."
"She showed me newspapers from the future."
He nodded again. "From 2024?"
I shook my head. "From 2020. About me. Apparently, we get together as a couple, but something goes wrong and I team up with another speedster and become a villain. That's why I've been avoiding you. But a friend of mine told me I needed to live in the here and now. That's why I kissed you." I finished my explanation, leaving out the fact that I knew exactly who the speedster was.
He nodded again. "Your friend was right. I want to live in the here and now. I'm tired of focusing on what is supposed to happen when it's just one of many possibilities." He said, and then I felt his lips touch mine softly once more. And this time, I allowed myself to fall.
