The next few days, all I could think about was those same few words.
"I love you too, Lizzie."
I knew he meant it in a friendly way, but I couldn't help the fantasies that came with it. Him whispering the words to me as he kissed me for the first time, maybe.
I shook my head. This was going to end in pain if I kept overanalysing everything.
"Lizzie? Are you ready?"
Today was the day of the Paramore concert, and I was nervous. Nervous and excited. But mostly nervous. I was about to meet Hayley Williams and Taylor York, the members of the very first band I fell in love with.
I had put my hair into the 'ear buns' again, and was wearing the black skater dress that Jenna had bought me for my birthday, with red converse and the red sunglasses perched on my head.
I walked out of the bathroom and twirled in front of Josh, the hem of my skirt flowing gently around my thighs.
"How do I look?"
Josh just stared at me.
I went back into the bathroom to check I had nothing on my face. Nope, my makeup was intact, there was nothing in my teeth, and my hair was neat.
I walked back out.
"You okay?"
Josh finally snapped out of his weird daze.
"Yepp, I'm great. You look great. Are you ready?"
He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the bus, so quickly that I could barely wave goodbye to the others who were sat in the lounge.
"Why are we leaving now? It's a bit early for a concert, isn't it?"
We jumped into a waiting taxi, and Josh asked for the driver to take us to the venue.
"Yeah, but we're going to meet up with Hayley first. She's dying to meet you."
Josh was bouncing his leg up and down nervously, so I put my hand on his knee to stop him.
"You told her about me?"
Josh stared at the hand that was on his leg as he spoke.
"Yeah, I may or may not have mentioned you once or twice. I told her that you were the newest addition to the twenty one pilots family, and she's a good friend of ours, so she wants to meet you."
I gulped. I suddenly felt a lot of pressure, knowing that she'd already heard about me.
Josh looked up and grabbed my chin, turning my face to look at his.
"Don't worry, okay? She's gonna love you."
The taxi stopped, signalling that we were at our destination. Josh gave the driver money before reaching for my hand. I climbed out of the taxi, and we made our way to the back door of the venue. We didn't even have to show our passes, the security guard just led us straight through.
"Like I told you, Hayley's a good friend of ours. We go to each others concerts whenever we can."
We reached a door that read 'Hayley Williams - Paramore', and Josh knocked three times. Voices from behind the door stopped, and I heard bounding footsteps coming closer. The door flew open and Josh was grabbed in a violent hug by a small, yellow haired woman.
"Josh! You're here!" Hayley's energy was so contagious, I couldn't help but crack a smile. "And you must be Liz!" She pulled me in for a bone crushing hug too, before gesturing for us to both come in. Inside was Taylor, who stood up to give Josh a bro hug, and then shake my hand.
Josh went to sit on one of the small couches in the room, and tugged me to sit next to him. Hayley and Taylor sat on chairs opposite us, and started to engage us in conversation.
"So Josh, how's the tour treating you?"
"It's really great! Fast paced with just enough days off to keep us sane, how about you?"
"It's so much fun, I love touring. This is the best one yet! This is your first tour, right, Liz? How are you finding it?"
I tried not to stutter as I answered the question. "I'm really loving it! It's nothing like anything I've ever experienced before, but it's so exciting."
Hayley nodded, almost nostalgically. "I remember my first tour, I was only sixteen! But what about the guys, are they all treating you nicely?"
Josh laughed at that. "Hayles, admit it, I'm the nicest person you know."
I giggled. "They're alright, I guess."
Josh playfully shoved his arm into mine, resulting in me nearly falling off the couch. He quickly grabbed my waist to stop me from tumbling to the ground, and left his arm there, even when I was upright again.
Hayley's eyes flitted between me and Josh, to Josh's arm placement, and then she smiled.
She was about to ask something, but there was a knock at the door and someone called from the other side that the band was needed for sound check.
"Why don't you guys grab something to eat and then come back for the show?" Hayley suggested. We nodded and then they hugged us both before they left.
Josh looked at me. "Taco Bell?"
