A few hours later we were on a plane. We were in first class, and I was sat in between Josh and my mum. She'd dozed off almost immediately after the plane took off.

"I can't believe we're flying back to America when you literally just got here," I mumbled softly to Josh, who was trying to find a film to watch on the screens in front of us.

He looked towards me with affection in his eyes.

"I wanted to surprise you." He leant forward to rub his nose gently against mine in a cute eskimo kiss. We both scrunched our noses up and laughed, trying to stifle our giggles as much as possible in order to avoid waking my sleeping mother.

I buried my face into Josh's shoulder, scrunching up my face as I let out the last of my laughs, before sighing happily. I felt a set of warm lips on my forehead and smiled to myself.

"What are your family like?" I asked Josh as he slipped his arm around my waist.

"They're great. Ashley is bringing her husband, Andrew with her, but they're both going to love you. Abbie and Jordan are really friendly. And then there's mum and dad. They're both really excited to meet you. My mum especially. She won't shut up about it."

I chuckled nervously. "No pressure, then."

Josh squeezed me gently around the middle. "Shush. You're going to be fine. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. They're going to love you almost as much as I do."

"Almost?"

"Well, it's practically impossible to reach my level of love." Josh reclined our seats so that I was using Josh as a pillow. Leaning up to peck his lips, I giggled.

"You're so damn cheesy."

...

Arriving in Ohio at the crack of dawn was not my idea of fun. Now that I was actually sleeping, my body clock hated mornings. I crawled off the plane with a hoodie on, trying to cover as much of my face as possible. My hair was thrown up in a messy bun, loose strands of hair falling all over my face.

I grumbled as Josh tugged on my hand making me trail behind him sleepily.

"I can't meet your family looking like this, Josh," I complained as we stood at the baggage conveyor. Josh leapt forward to grab both our suitcases before coming back to stand in front of me. He brushed my cheek with his fingertips as he gently placed a kiss to my forehead.

"You look beautiful, Lizzie. And they won't care what you look like anyway. I'm pretty sure they'll love you immediately."

I managed a small smile as we headed out of the airport, a taxi waiting outside for us. We jumped in, Josh giving the driver an address. I tucked myself against Josh's side, his arm snaking around my shoulders and pulling me closer. The taxi's heater combined with the heat of Josh's body next to mine was making me drowsy, so I quickly fell asleep.

I woke up to the feeling of being carried and the warmth of a hard chest against my face. I was lowered onto a comfy surface, and although I knew that we must've arrived, I couldn't seem to open my eyes, so I drifted back off.

...

"Is she awake yet?"

"Nope. She was really tired and I don't want to wake her up." That was Josh's voice.

I groggily wiped my eyes as I sat up in a foreign room. I was in a bed I had never been in before, but the entire room smelled of Josh.

I heard the shuffling of footsteps as the people moved further away in the house.

I checked my phone which was placed on a bedside table beside my head, and groaned when I saw that it was early noon. I decided to get up, but knew that any make-up I had been wearing had probably smeared all over my face, and I probably needed to brush my hair.

There were two doors leading out of the bedroom, and I assumed that one must be the bathroom, and the hallway must've been where the voices were coming from.

I guessed right. I walked into a bathroom, and gasped immediately when I saw my reflection in a mirror. My eyeliner and mascara had smudged around my eyes, and my hair looked like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards.

I rushed to the sink, washing my face and then scrubbing my teeth when I found my toiletry bag on the counter. My hair was next. I ran a brush through it and threw it up into a ponytail, deeming myself presentable for human interaction.

I quickly changed from my comfy travel clothes into a pair of jeans and a comfy burgundy sweater, before walking back into the bedroom. Josh was sat on the bed, scrolling through Twitter on his phone.

He looked up and grinned when he heard me enter.

"I heard the water running so I guessed you were up. And I assumed you wouldn't want to meet my family on your own."

I laughed and walked over to him, his arms wrapping around my waist and his head resting on my tummy. He rubbed his face against the soft material of my jumper.

"You're so comfortable. We could always just stay here and cuddle?" Josh attempted to pull me onto the bed whilst I giggled.

"Later, muppet."

Josh pouted jokingly before standing up and catching my hand in his, pulling me out of the room. He led me down some stairs and down a hallway, towards a group of friendly sounding voices.

He tugged me into a kitchen, where two people were stood. One, I assumed was Josh's mother, and the other one of his sisters.

The older woman stood up excitedly when she saw us.

"You must be Lizzie! It's so nice to finally meet you!" She pulled me into a warm hug and squeezed me gently. "Would you like something to eat? Drink? I'll pour you some water."

She let go and began fussing around in the cupboards before I could say anything.

"Hi Lizzie, I'm Abigail. Sorry about mum, she was just really looking forward to meeting you. So was everyone, actually, after how much my brother talks about you."

I turned to look at Josh, who was blushing slightly. I laughed and nudged him in the side, before turning back to Abigail.

"It's really nice to meet you too. Josh has barely shut up about how much he missed you all on tour."

"Is it National Embarrass Josh Day?" Josh said, grinning with his tongue between his teeth.

"I hope so, because that is one holiday I can really get behind," another male voice spoke from behind me.

Josh threw a brotherly punch at the new member of the conversation.

"This is Jordan. He thinks he's funny."

"What? I'm hilarious."

Laura came back and intercepted the situation with a laugh.

"Come on now boys. I've made food."
