Chapter 24: Ghost Movement

Start from the beginning

"Damn, is there a light?" One armed insurgents complained.

The terrorist with a clipboard shoots a glare in annoyance. "There is a light switch over there." Clipboard points.

The complainer remains silent as he flips the light switch. As the lights came on, several bulbs blew a fuse. The remaining light bulbs illuminated small areas of the storage room. "Damn, the lighting in this place is terrible." The second grunt moaned.

"You have a flashlight, use it." Clipboard growled as he looks back to his paper. "The boss needs 20 assault rifles, 40 pistols, and a handful of grenades to arm our new followers. You know the drill, grab the containers and bring them to the boat." Clipboard leaves the room, leaving the two Synth grunts to look around.

Barnes quickly gets out of her hiding spot and moves to Aaron's location using the cover of the darkness.

"We need to take these jokers out." Barnes whispers. Aaron looks over his cover.

"Too many to take all out at once without blowing cover." Barnes looks around before unsheathing a six-inch blade. Aaron looks at with worry. "You can't go out there. We'll be dead if they see you."

"They can't when it's dark." Barnes replied pointing to the lightbulbs. Aaron grinned as he pulls out his suppressed pistol. As the sights lock onto the nearest light bulb, he signals to Barnes to move into position. As Barnes gets in position, Aaron starts slotting the remaining faint lightbulbs in the room.

As soon as the place became completely dim, Barnes's eyesight adjusts in the middle of the darkness. The panicked footsteps help Barnes predict where the Synth insurgents in the room. As Barnes moves up, she spots a pair of insurgents sweeping the room. One carried a flashlight as the other followed, moving to Aaron's hiding spot. Aaron quickly pops out of cover and shoots the gimp following behind.

The man with the flashlight quickly spins around witnessing his friend falling to the ground. He gasps, quickly immobile from fear. Barnes sprints for the man with the flashlight and stabs him violently in the back. A grunt from the other end of the room notices and draws for his weapon. Barnes grabs a knife from her victim and throws it at the third grunt, piercing him in the throat. The man gasps for breath as he slowly collapses to the ground. The two guards start heading for the exit

Aaron emerges from cover and takes out the fleeing insurgents with ease. He quickly moves out with Barnes for the exit. As they are near the steps, a pair of feet make their way.

"What the hell is taking so long." Clipboard growls. "You five better be sick or dead in there, I shit you not." As he enters the basement, he freezes at the sight of the two Navy SEAL operatives in front of him. Aaron pulls out his pistol and takes him down before he and Barnes exit the building.

As the two enter the parking lot, they sweep the location before doubling back for the guns. They slowly carry the bins onto the boat. As Aaron heads back for the final trip, he emerges with twirling a pair of keys with his finger. These are the keys for the boat. Found him in Clipboard's pocket." Aaron says as he twists the ignition with the key. The boat lets out a silent hum as the engine kicks into life. "Man, this is a silent engine. We can park it at the base without attracting attention."

Barnes stops him. "We need to get rid of the bodies. We cannot have the enemy notice a threat within their territory."

Aaron nods as he heads back to the church with Barnes. Time passes as they carry the bodies from the church and dump them into the river. As they drop the last body into the river, they hop back on the boat. Barnes takes control of the boat. "You ready to leave?" Barnes asks as Aaron stores the last bin onto the boat.
