Chapter Nine: House Thing

"Dude," I made a face.

"...You don't have to send me a video?"

I face palmed.

"Maybe a pictur-"

"Out of my house," I said and shoved my face in a pillow.

I heard him grunt and close the door a few seconds later.

'He's so funny!'

And embarrassing.

I lifted my head from the pillow and fidgeted with my hands. I wondered what my parents were doing, I hadn't talked to them in about two months. I cringed, I needed to call them. But they could've called me? The lazy bums. I've been busy being an adult and shit. I can't call them. Gah.

I took my phone out and was ready to dial their number when Carolyn's name popped up on the screen. Oh, I forgot about them too. Shows what a fucking great friend I am. I answered the call.

"Hel-"

"YO! HI HI HI HI!"

"Hello Carolyn."

"Ugh, you're so proper! Hey guess what?!"

"Yes? Tell me I do not like guessing," I said cordially, just to get on her nerves.

I could picture her rolling her eyes as she responded, "We're going to Tokyo for a couple weeks!"

"That's great! But why?"

"Ashton and I have to go there for our magazine," she answered.

"Um...magazine?"

"Yup!"

"I thought you two were studying the whole CSI thing..." I trailed.

"What the fu- No! We were in writing and journalism!"

"Oh..Ohhhh! I remember now! Whoops," I laughed, "So when are you coming?"

"...What day is it?"

"Saturday, why?"

"Oh. We'll be on the plane Monday. Um. Monday your time? I dunno, stupid time difference."

"That's soon! You two wanna stay over at my place? There's plenty of room," I said the last part thinking of my parents and the while conceited little rich girl thing.

"That'd be great! We were staying there anyway but it's good to have your invite," she giggled.

I rolled my eyes, "Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow, what time should I pick you up at the airport?"

"We land at 6:45 in the evening!" She chirped and yelled at Ashton to take the cat out of his suitcase. There was a whine in the background, a scuffle, and a loud cat noise. I looked at my phone, slightly bewildered and very, very confused.

"Um..."

"Sorry, I wanted to take Whiskers, but Carolyn wouldn't let me," Ashton sighed.

"Hi Ashton."

"Hello."

"I gotta go because Carolyn is stomping her fat ass-"

There was more scuffling on the line before it went dead. I looked at my phone again and laughed loudly. I missed them. Now to call my parents.

I sat in the airport waiting lounge. They wouldn't let me walk towards the gates unless I had a ticket so I was stuck here until Carolyn and Ashton walked by. I sipped my Starbucks coffee and played High School Story because it's addicting and shit.
