jungkook loves to see minhyuk. whenever he plays with him, it washes off his frustration over work.
"appa, look!" minhyuk pointed the ice cream vendor. he really loves sweets, especially ice cream.it reminded him of lisa's obsession for vanilla ice cream.
he couldn't help but smile.
"boys, i bring some sushi."
a petite girl was walking towards them.
"thanks, ji eun."
minhyuk's guardian.
park chaeyoung, jungkook's officemate and best mate, was long gone now. she was jungkook's first friend in his department. she helped him alot to adjust easily in his job. though she was very competent when she was working, she was so stubborn when it comes to love. jungkook always scolds her whenever she keeps going back to her abusive ex boyfriend. his ex eventually got her pregnant yet left her the same day he knew about the baby. jungkook did everything to keep her healthy since he also found out she didn't have a family or close relative to take care of her.
though she was pregnant, she still insisted to go to work. jungkook didn't like it but still, she told him it was the only thing she loves to do and it doesn't stress her.
as her only friend that was truly concerned to her, jungkook wanted her to be happy and have a healthy baby. he wanted to assure her that as she got her baby in her arms, she wouldn't feel alone anymore. unfortunately, she died on that same day she gave birth to minhyuk.
lisa knew about chaeyoung being her husband's best mate. lisa was totally fine with it since she liked her too. she was nice to her and they both have the same taste when it comes to fashion. whenever there was a company party, lisa would most likely stick around with chaeyoung than to him, her husband.
jungkook chose not to tell lisa about chaeyoung's condition that time 'coz he didn't want lisa to feel bad as she couldn't bear one for him. he didn't want lisa to feel guilty or even envious of her so he chose not to tell her. whenever lisa asked about chaeyoung, since she didn't know she was dead, he would tell lisa that she went abroad and just lost in touch with each other.
"how's work, kookie-ah?" ji eun asked as she sat beside him.
it still felt weird to him whenever someone calls him 'kookie' and it isn't lisa.
"not good. as always." he simply replied. she giggled and handed him some sushi that he gladly accepted. he looked back to minhyuk who was also enjoying his sushi.
ji eun was the closest relative to chaeyoung. he couldn't recall anymore if she was her second or third cousin from her mother's side.
she wanted to adopt minhyuk and so she did. jungkook even helped her to settle with minhyuk. it was his last promise to his friend, that he would make sure her baby is always safe.
it has been 4 years. minhyuk is a smart 4 year old little boy now.
wherever you are now, chae, i know you are watching over him.
i know you are happy and proud of him now.
"kookie, i need to tell you something..."he startled as jieun spoke beside him. she smiled at him.
ji eun is pretty, he can't deny that if he has met her first, maybe...but no, he's happy and contented with lisa and this set up with minhyuk.
when she had legally adopted minhyuk, she insisted to take him to her province. jungkook agreed. he was contented seeing min hyuk grow through the pictures and videos ji eun kept sending him thoughout those 4 years. ji eun made sure jungkook was in touch with minhyuk. he even calls her for minhyuk. minhyuk started calling him 'appa' since he was 2. jungkook felt good hearing it from him though so he just let it be.
it was just 5 months ago when ji eun came back to the city with min hyuk but then jieun just decided to show up with minhyuk 4 months after they completely adjusted and settled in the city life.
jieun needed to earn more money to support minhyuk's schooling. that was why they decided to move to the city. jungkook, again, insisted to help her. ji eun declined and said it was fine.
jieun rented an apartment just nearby his building. jieun and minhyuk has been visiting him for a month now. minhyuk loves being with him and so is he.
"what is it?"
she smiled again but jungkook was shocked because of the next thing she did.
she kissed his cheek.
his eyes widened.
"kookie, i like you."
*click*
they quickly turned to the one who took it. a black-haired guy with a smile plastered on his face.
"it's so good to be back in seoul." he waved at them.
"sorry for taking picture of you and your kid." he gave a gentle pat on minhyuk's head who was beside him. "i love taking photos of cute scenes."
"appa! he took great pictures of me!"
he smiled at minhyuk and to the male stranger. he slowly moved away a bit from ji eun but she didn't seem to notice since she clung her arms around his and smiled at the stranger.
"it's fine, mister." she giggled as he threw her a confused look. she just winked at him in return.
"i must go now, then." he smiled once again to them. he looked down at minhyuk. " nice meeting you, young man."
minhyuk waved at him as he walked away.
"ji eun, you can't like me." she was surprised by his sudden rejection and looked away. "ji eun, i am married."
she turned back at him with her shocked face that quickly turned into a frown.
"you know what, kookie, you could've just told me you don't like me. you don't have to lie."
he got confused but she grabbed his hand and raised it,
"if you really have a wife, why aren't you wearing your ring?"
"how come you haven't told me about it?"
"why are you always with minhyuk instead of being with her?"
"does she even know about minhyuk?"
"4 years, kookie. if you really are married...
...you are such a bad husband. she doesn't deserve you."jungkook, right there, froze.
he didn't know how or what to answer.
he felt bad.
not for ji eun but... for his wife, lisa.
he stared at minhyuk who was running towards them.
"appa! uncle yoongi really took great photos of me earlier!"
