I SEE YOU

TOBY'S P.O.V

This was what I called disaster. I don't know what to do anymore. That girl I used to date was literally dying and this was the time when she must need me the most. And in the other hand, I got the only girl I love with all my heart which we've already survived for so long. You might think why I would date Loaine but tha's happening. I was so preoccupied by her since the very first time I spilled my coffee to her shirt. Manila has already been a part of me and I've fought so hard to make it possible for me to come back next year.

I dialed her number on Skype. She's online.

"Hey."

"Morning sunshine," I held my breath. "How...you doing?"

"Way better, thank you."

"I'm sorry..."

"No it's not your fault."

"No this is my fault I didn't tell you that she's here. I haven't seen her in years. This is my first time again baby, and I can do nothing but accepting the fact that she's my neighbor. Like she used to be."

"And she lives five feet away from you. Amazing."

"And I'm not done yet. She's nothing anymore. I dated her when I was like 13. Really."

"Yeah really, she needs you."

"How could you..."

"Evelyn." She threw me a bittersweet smile. "I love you..." Then her voice's cracked.

"I know, I love you too...so much..." I bowed my head so deep, not knowing what to say.

"Go meet her."

"What?" She shocked me with that line.

"Go meet her. Be there for her. She needs you."

"But...no, you..."

"I'll be right here when you come home."

"No I won't do that."

"When that's what you really want to do." She smiled. "Babe, I beg you to come to her house and check on her condition. This is an order."

"You're wrong. I can't do that."

"Only for four months, Toby. Please. You have to."

"I..."

"Just shut up already and listen to me carefully. We don't break up. I just want to give her one more reason to live. To raise her hope. I want her to feel like she's alive."

"Why are you have to be so kind?" I smirked.

"You, I will slap you young man."

"Ouch, lovely."

"Haha..." She bowed her head and swept away her tears. "Okay so tomorrow morning you better check on her."

"Okay stop telling me that. It hurts." I shook my head.

"Nah, until you say yes."

"Yes."

"Good."

We ended that night's conversation beautifully. I watched her falling asleep in front of her laptop because I sang her lullaby. She deserved some rest. It's been crazy week so far. I don't know either how long did I survive last night, but on the following morning I woke up to a piece of paper Loaine showed me through Skype, saying, 'Morning sleepyhead, wake up. You promise me something'.

I took a deep breath and answered her right away. "I'm awake!"

"Hey!" She glanced over me. She was preparing her bag. I remember she told me that she has a gown photoshoot tonight.

"Hey what?" I pouted. Pardon me.

"Hey...baby." She came closer, winked at me. Oh my heart's just stopped beating. Pardon me. Again. "So lovely Toby I need to go, Eve's outside. We're running late. You should pay for this later, you made me falling asleep with that lullaby."

"Sure! Let's do that again!" I said excitedly.

"I mean you should pay because I'm running late because of..." She ran again here and there the entire room then suddenly stopped and looking at my smirk. "Whatever. I need to go."

"Okay sure baby. Take care." I blowed a kiss as she was rolling her eyes but blowed me one back.

"See ya! Disconnect me later okay!"

I waved her away. I heard she closed the door. You know, I loved to admire her room so much. I'd always do that whenever I have time. There was a collage of our photos together that she once made for me. And a wall full of my photos that she printed, and my name on her bed side, everything. Guess what? I turned around to see the same exact things in my room.

I smiled so wide. Nice to know that we're good. And now, let's face the reality.
