Chapter 5

‘’Ellie let me do it.’’ I whispered and she nodded and let out a sob.

I couldn't handle it anymore and I hug her to my chest, once I had her against my chest she started fully crying, I continue to hug her mumbling small words by her ear, ‘’It's going to be ok Ellie.’’ Was the most I repeated to her.

I was drawing small circles on her back and it seemed to calm her down, I made eye contact with Brian and he seemed strain, like he was hurting seeing his mom like this and I knew he could change. He shouldn’t take it out on his mom because of what I did to him.

My dad after cleaning the broken stuff, he signaled me to take Ellie up to her room to which I did.

I could hear muffle voices and after I laid her on the bed I was about to walk out when Ellie spoke.

‘’I know it was you.’’ She spoke softly.

‘’What?’’ I had a feeling I knew what she was talking about.

‘’As if I wouldn't know my little boy's friend who was two years older than him, it destroyed him, you know he came home crying at first I thought it was because of the bruises on his face and stomach, but it wasn't you want to know why he was so upset?’’ She asked me but didn't wait for me to reply.

‘’It was because he lost the only friend he had, and all because he was young, it broke my heart seeing him like that, days pass, weeks, and then months, by the time his dad and I divorced I knew he was different so when he asked if he could go live with his dad, I had already knew that I had lost him.’’ She sighs rubbing her eyes.

‘’I just wish I could get my little boy back.’’ She sniffed and I felt worse at what I did not only to Brian but to Ellie too.

‘’Do you hate me?’’ I choked up the question.

‘’No honey I don't, you were just a boy, I could never hate you, I just wished you boys realized what you two have now.’’ She stated and turn around with her back to me, what did she mean by what we have now?

As I walked out of the bedroom I bumped into Brian, he was standing outside my parent’s bedroom, and once again with blank expression on his face.

‘’Is she ok?’’ He asks and I could hardly hear him by how soft his voice sounded.

‘’Yeah she's sleeping right now, but she wants you to stay for dinner so come on I’ll show you to the guest room.’’ Yeah I lied so what, I had a feeling Ellie would be ok with me lying to him so we can keep him a bit longer.

So once Brian went and said he wanted to take a nap for a short while, I of course being the awesome step big brother said yeah ok and I left him there, I then went into the living room and went through Brian's coat pockets and found his hotel room key in his wallet. I knew what I was about to do was bad and insincere but desperate measures call for desperate matters.

I jump in my car after I told my dad I was going to meet some friends and that I’ll be back for dinner, he said ok and went to the kitchen.

I put on a hat, sunglasses and a big long coat yeah sucky disguised but it got the job done.

I made it to his room and went through every single drawer and found his passport with everything he needs to get back into Paris, I stole his laptop, cellphones yes cellphones, the boy has at least 5 of them, his date planner and of my god jackpot the number where his jet is being held I grinned like a psycho at this and texted them a quick, ‘’Take the jet back to dad’s I’m staying here a bit longer.’’ And shut off the cell I used to text them.

Once everything he needed was packed and since I already had his wallet, well I went straight to Julliard and towards my dorm, I still had the key and was allowed to use my dorm even on summer, I put all his crap in to my closet, and made sure everything was off so no gps could be traced.

I got rid of my disguised and went back to the house, where everyone was up already and about to have dinner.

 We were in an awkward silence. As we ate silently, it was killing me but didn’t say anything.

‘’Where were you Fisher?’’ Ellie asks me while stirring her spoon in her mashed potatoes.

‘’I went and hang out with some friends, sorry it took me so long.’’ I mumble and started to feel guilty for what I had done.

All of the sudden the house phone rang and my dad stood up to answer. Saved by the bell I could kiss the damn phone.

‘’Matthews resident, this is Daniel speaking.’’ My dad's voice sounded so serious.

‘’Uhm yeah he's here, hold down a minute.’’ My dad looked at Ellie than at Brian.

‘’Brian is your dad, and he doesn't sound too happy.’’ My dad told him and Brian eyed my dad than furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, I had a feeling I knew why the man wasn’t happy.

‘’Hello, hey da- what?’’ Brian spoke in plain English.

‘’No dad why in the hell would I do that, when I was planning on going home in two weeks.’’ He snapped.

‘’Well I didn't send no text, besides I’m at mom's and all my cellphones are back in the hotel.’’ He was running his fingers through his brown shinny hair. ‘’Damn il papa,je vais vous parler une fois im à l'hôtel good bye’’ (damn it dad, I’ll talk to you once I’m back at the hotel good bye.) He hung up and took a long sigh.

‘’Everything ok Brian.’’ Ellie asks him with nothing but love and concerned for her son.

‘’Yeah, wait no that’s a lie everything is not ok apparently my dad has been trying to reach me and none of my cell phones are on me and the jet is on its way back to Paris on my orders, so now I’m being punished and have to buy a ticket when I’m good and ready to leave, that way I stop acting like a brat, daddy dearest thinks punishment is good when I don’t keep an eye on serious things, so now I gotta go back to my room and try and get a ticket to Paris for in two weeks so that I have time to go back to the showing of the fall clothes fashion line, I guess our clients were trying to reach me too.’’ He said and plop on to his chair he seemed stressed and I almost felt bad about what I did.

I said almost and almost don’t count, sorry bub you staying here to fix things between your mom and you and hopefully me as well
