"Of course, he had to come, we can't hang out with out him. We are a team," She reprimands Alex before adding, "We do everything together."

I am the first brave soul to step out of the shadows, sauntering through the bar like I own the place. If you act like you're supposed to be there, then they won't question it, is my modo. Alex follows close behind me and the others follow skittishly behind. I don't get ten feet from the bar before I see Alex's dad tending bar, glaring at me.

"Hey Mr. Caldwell," I say with an innocent smile.

"Nice try kids..." he says fighting not to smile at us. I see the side of his mouth turn up slightly. Sometimes I think he enjoys fighting with us. He raises his hand pointing to the front door, "Out."

I smile at the memory as I sit at the bar swiping my hands down the back of my skirt as I sit.

"What can I getcha...." The bartender asks as he wipes down the bar. His hand stops, and his jaw drops when he sees me. "Trina, what in the world are you doing here?"

"Sabastian how are you doing," I give him my award-winning smile, really it is. It's the same smile I wore in the picture on the back of my book. Sabastian was a good-looking kid when he was younger, smarter than the rest of us and always expected to do great things, yet here he is tending bar and hot as hell now. Damn, what I wouldn't give to have those muscular arms wrapped around me for a night or two, I thought and was greeted with a knowing smile when he slid a shot across the bar. Yup, I had gotten caught checking Sabastian out. Oh well he probably has girls hanging on his every word, what's one more.

I take the shot and slam the glass back down on the bar.

Sabastian points at a guy, drawing his attention. The guy walks behind the bar. "Take over, your break is over, and I've got some catching up to do," he orders the guy around like he owns the place. I guess that would make more since than the smartest guy in school becoming a bartender, instead of going to college.

Sabastian rounds the bar carrying two beers, he hands one to me before wrapping his arm around my shoulder and steering me away from the bar. "Don't worry, no one will bite ya here, they're all excited to see you," he whispers in my ear. He must have sensed my uneasiness about seeing everyone after all these years.

He leads me into another room, that houses pool tables, dart boards and slot machines as well as another bar across the back, my guess is that it gets used more in the summer when it's tourist season than year-round. "Wow this place is a lot bigger than it used to be. We used to sneak in the back door, which was tight there." I turn to point at the door that now leads to this room.

"Yeah, well I bought it a while back and made some updates," Sabastian admits, still steering me further into the room.

"Good for you," I slap him playfully on the arm, glad that he didn't just waste his brains on hard living and booze. Not that there's anything wrong with that kind of life, if you have no other choice, but this guy had choices. He had scholarships and schools after him all through high school. Being the star quarterback and having a brain got him noticed by tons of schools and tons of girls too.

"Well look what the cat drug in?" I hear a familiar voice call out behind me. I spin around on my heels and smile at Carly, "The cat or the cops," She giggles at her own joke."

The thought of my past transgressions makes me cringe. I was a wild one back then, but life changed me, I mostly stay home, wracking my brains, trying to write my next big novel and getting nowhere at all. I've taken up drinking a bit since I've gotten nowhere with my novel but I'm not that girl anymore.

"Carly, we don't need to discuss the past," I say praying she'll leave it alone.

Carly grabs my arm, pulls me through the crowd of people that I recognize as alumni from high school. Wow they went all out and actually scheduled a reunion. I wonder how long it took them to get this together, I think as Carly stops in front of a very tan, very tall man, "This is my Billy," She coos.
