Sweat drips down my back mixing with the dirt and grime form a days' worth of hard work. First thing this morning I had to get up and start cleaning up after the party. Sadly, those that remain are too hungover to help or that was their excuse when they stumbled to their cars and peeled out of my driveway. Alex was up and gone before I even woke up this morning, leaving me to clean up after everyone.

Empty bottles, cans and cups litter my backyard, the remnants of a party that I didn't even want to have in the first place. I clean the trash up Place the liquor bottles with liquor in them, in a box. I pick it up under one arm while dragging the garbage bag with the other. With the garbage bag tightly sealed in the trash can outdoors, I carry the booze into the house where I put it away for the next time one of the Caldwell men decide to have a party here.

I grab a bottle of water out of my new refrigerator and step back outside. The water looks so inviting as the June sun sits high in the afternoon sky, warming my skin to a bright red. I drop the bottle on the grass and for once just let myself follow through with my desires. I jump in, sinking all the way down to the rock and sand filled bottom before letting myself float back up to the surface again, smoothing my hair back as I break the surface.

The cool water feels amazing as I let it wash away the sweat and dirt leaving me feeling refreshed. My eyes close and with a steady breath I lay backwards, letting the ripples that the waterfall makes guide my body wherever it will. A feeling of complete calmness washes over me for once in the past month I'm alone, quiet, I just am. I'm not running to a bar to meet friends, or to a party, or a diner, or even to work. I'm just relaxing letting the water guide me.

A deep chuckle breaks me from my meditative state, my body lowers in the water turning so I can see who it belongs to.

"Trina?"

"Oh, um Conner, what are you doing here?"

"Alex sent me to pick you up. He needs you to run a few errands."

"Oh, alright, I need a shower first, but I can meet you at the sheriff's department." Alex, Mason and Jayden have all been friends with Conner since school, but he always gave me the creeps, so I tried to steer clear of him. The fact that he is standing in my backyard right now is a little strange, especially without one of the guys being with him.

"Why don't you come out of the water and I'll run you into town. He said something about you driving his truck."

My heart pounds against my ribcage, something just doesn't feel right about this. "You know what, I'd just rather take my own car."

"Alright, I'll let him know. He said before stepping away. I watch him walk around the house before I start swimming to the shore. Once on land I make a run for the door. Strong arms wrap around me halting my progress, pulling me against and even harder chest. His hand flew up to my mouth before I could make a noise.

"Open the door, Trina." He whispers forcefully, I did as I was told. Once we were inside he points a gun at me but releases me. "Lock the front door," he orders with a wave of his gun, while locking the back door with his other hand.

I lock the door and spin back around, trying to keep a constant eye on him. "Conner why are you doing this?" The answer already at the forefront of my mind but I want to keep him talking hoping he won't hurt me.

"Trina, I don't want to.... Why couldn't you just stay away, just drop it? I didn't mean to do it.... I was a kid, I was drunk, and I was so in love with you.... I just wasn't thinking straight, and it happened. I'm sorry.... I have tried to make it right my entire life, but it's caught up with me and I can't let this stupid mistake that I made as a kid ruin everything I've got going on." He raises the gun this time pointing it at my head.
