Trina's point of view
Delilah Laughs when I shove a pair of black large framed sunglasses on my face and a large red sun hat on my head "I need a disguise if I'm going to deal with these people much longer," I explain to her with a sigh.
I try to keep my head down when we enter the diner, but it feels like everyone is staring, making me feel uneasy. I'm probably just paranoid, after all my psychiatrist said I have slight paranoia, most likely brought on by what happened to me. Usually I can ignore it, but I could have sworn that I saw them looking and whispering as we sat down at the last booth available.
I lean over the table and whisper, "is it just me or are they whispering about us?"
"Girl you are the talk of the town right now, being a famous writer and all but give me a sec and I'll find out what's going on." I watch her walk to another table.
"Good morning ladies," She says and sits down beside them. I watch them whisper to each other before she laughs and stands up. When Del returns to our table she says, "So, have a busy night last night?"
"Huh," I mumble, confused as to what she's talking about.
"Apparently my mama caught Bash coming out of your house shortly after we left. He was trying to be discrete and might have made it past mama if he hadn't tripped on your daddy's bucket of fishing poles," she chuckles.
I cover my face with my hands, embarrassed about the entire thing. I don't know why? He's hot, nice, and successful, why should I be embarrassed? I remove my hands, "I wish I could say I got some last night but nope. I was drunk and him being the nice guy that he is, babysat me."
"What can I getcha," Missy says in a not so friendly manner?
"Umm, do you work at ever food joint in this town," I ask giving her back what she was giving in the friendly department.
"Ha-ha, are you gonna order or pick fun of my pitiful existence?"
"I'll just have flapjacks and sausage, with an egg over easy on my flapjacks and a cup of coffee black, please," I order, my voice dripping with sugary sweetness that screams I can't stand you but I'm going to be polite for now.
Del orders her breakfast and we watch her saunter away. It doesn't take too long for our order to come up. I take a bite of my pancakes and am surprised when Sabastian slides in beside me pushing me over as he does. He slides my plate in front of me and smiles. I smile back and wipe my mouth before speaking, "What are you...." I look up and there stands a not so friendly looking Alex. He slides in the seat next to Del, making her quickly slide over.
"Can't yawl find your own seat," Del snaps at them.
"Look around Del, there aren't any," Alex returns fire.
"Everyone probably heard that the famous author would be in the diner this morning," Sabastian chuckles as he elbows me.
"Ouch be careful, I bruise easily you moron," I joke and shove him. I can't help but smile at the four of us. It feels like old time, minus the seating arrangement, oh and the scowl on Alex's face. I glance at him and am stunned silent when I see him watching me, his face less hard and angry, more sorrow filled. I turn my head and glare at Sabastian, "what did you tell him?"
"Now, Trina, don't go getting all fired up. This is not the place for all that drama," He says, knowing that I will keep my mouth shut.
I lower my head, staring at my eggs and flapjacks, suddenly not so hungry anymore.
"Trina, we need to talk," Alex says in that sexy low voice that always had me doing whatever he wanted, not this time.
"Alex, I have nothing to say to you," I say and shove on Sabastian until he slides out of the booth. I march out of the diner and made it half way down the street before Alex grabbed my arm, spinning me around. He didn't say a word, he simply drug me down the street to the police station.
