"Trina are you alright," Alexis asks. I open one eye and see him kneeling in front of me, making sure to keep his distance, but close enough that he can inspect me for injuries.

I swallow hard, "Y...yes I'm alright, just fell on this stack of papers. I was surprised is all. I......"

"Can I help you up?" He asks, alerting me that he was true to his word and had taken a refresher course on how to handle a rape victim. I nod, he gently takes my hand, helping me off the floor.

I can't help but get lost in those eyes that I loved to stare into all those years ago, another time when I was another girl. I clear my throat, "I was going to ask you if you have petty cash for things that are needed around here or how I go about shopping for that stuff?" I ask, still lost in his gaze.

Alex let's my hand go, shutting his office door before walking into another office where there's a large safe. He opens the safe exposing several large guns, a few badges, some bullet proof vests and at the top was another smaller safe. He opens it and hands me an envelope. "Get what is needed and when you get back I'll put the money back. It's not that I don't trust you it's just regulations, even as the Sheriff I have a boss to answer to. I will need the receipts for whatever you purchase as well."

I nod and back away, before grabbing my purse, shoving the envelope inside and practically running out the front door. I think he wanted to get rid of me for the moment as much as I wanted to be out of there.

I drove my beetle to the little country store, praying they had what I needed. They normally carried the necessities, but it has been a long time since I've been there so who knows, it could be a huge mall for all I know, but I would have seen it and Delilah wouldn't allow it. You'd think that girl owned the island the way she acts.

When I got to the little old country store, it hadn't changed much. It was a small building that looked more like it belonged in the western era than now. There were even hitching post where people could tie up their horses, if they chose to ride their horse to the store. I had to shake my head at the building that hasn't changed a bit. I got out of my beetle and wasn't surprised to see the old man that owned the store sitting in his rocking chair smoking a pipe as he spent his day watching the waves and the people that passed him. He has always been more a part of the decor of the Country store than an employee. His kids took the store over years ago when my mom was a kid. I'm actually surprised that the old man is still alive, let alone still sitting on the porch smoking his cigars.

I smiled at him as I opened the door that squeaked with age and has long since needed replaced but they are the type of people that think, if it's not broke don't fix it, so nothing get's updated until it no longer serves its purpose. I step inside and grab a hand basket. The store being as small as it is, they only offer hand baskets. The aisles aren't wide enough for a cart and if they made them wider they wouldn't be able to carry as much stuff, so when you shop here you use a hand basket.

I glance around the little store noticing that they've added on a section in the back, wow that's surprising, I guess they decided they needed more room. I wander up and down the aisles at first just browsing, curious to see what they did have just in case I needed to return for something on my own time.

They carried just what someone might need in a moment notice and nothing more, sure they carried some appliances and thank God for me that a coffee pot was one of them. There was only one brand on the shelf, nothing fancy, it just did what it needed to, but I guess Alex probably doesn't need something fancy like a Keurig.

I grab the coffee pot and some cleaning supplies, a broom, dust pan and a mop. They really need to hire someone to clean the police department, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years, not deep cleaned anyway. I had to leave one basket at the front with the cashier to fill another basket, even with only getting the necessities. I paid at the counter and packed them in the car before I headed back to the sheriff's department.
