Chapter Six
"Grandma, I'm going out for a little bit," I call out. I have my yellow hoodie on over my face, of course it's raining outside.
"Okay honey, don't be gone too long," she replies.
I take off sprinting out the door. I have to talk to Herobrine. Why? Let me tell you.
~An Hour Earlier~
I'm packing up to go home at school. Lila and Herobrine have disappeared, I haven't seen them since lunch. So I'm leaving when I hear two familiar voices; it's Lila and Herobrine. They are alone in the hallway. I hide behind the corner and listen.
"Where you going now?" Lila asks.
"Gotta meet Ryan somewhere," Herobrine replies.
"You and her, you've got a strong friendship, huh?" Lila says.
"Oh come on, I've only had two friends, you and her."
"Ladies man!" Lila pokes Herobrine and laughs.
He laughs too. "But I'm always nervous around Ryan. I can't figure out what to say. Usually I have to think and sometimes she catches me looking at her."
"Whoa dude. You're getting all tied up?"
"Yeah... I think I like her or something."
Now I am trying to hold in gasps and screams. That's crazy! I take a deep breath and continue to listen. I peek around the corner to see what they were doing. They were both leaning against the wall. Lila was filing her nails and Herobrine was rubbing his forehead.
"I don't know, what do I say?" he says.
"Don't say anything. You wouldn't want it to ruin your friendship. What if she doesn't feel the same way?" Lila replies.
"I think I should stay away from her until I stop feeling this way." Herobrine's words hit me right in the chest.
"Don't do that either. You just need to calm down. Just meet her tonight and do as you usually do. Talk to her. You are her friend, right?"
"Yeah, you're right. Alright, I better take off. See you tomorrow Lila." Then he walks towards the door, which is in my direction. I get there before him and he doesn't see me. Phew.
~Back To The Present~
The cold rain hits my face like ice. I can barely see but I keep running. Then I see the neon rope and climb it. When I reach the top, I see him.
Herobrine is sitting on the beanbag.
^Herobrine's P.O.V.^
"H-Hey," Ryan says.
"Hi." I say. My tone is cold and I can't seem to fix it.
"So, what did you want to meet about?" She sits on the chair and crosses her legs.
Damn, she's adorable.
"I just wanted to hang out." I was going to say something else but I remembered what Notch had told me.
"I'm sorry brother, you are a disgrace to this land. I must rid of you before it's too late..."
"Look, I-" Ryan begins.
"No. Don't." I say. Then I think to myself. Herobrine, calm yourself! Why am I taking my anger out on her?
"What?" Ryan looks horrified.
"I just need to be alone for a moment."
"Excuse me? You wanted me to come here."
"I know! Just leave me alone!"
"Dude, calm down!"
"I CAN'T CALM DOWN!" I yell at the top of my lungs.
Ryan's eyes are filled with hurt. I immediately feel guilty. "I need to leave," I say sharply.
"What?!!" Ryan says as I slide down the rope. She follows.
I don't say anything. I head for the path that leads back home. I have walked at least ten yards when Ryan says something.
"You can't run from me."
I whip around. She's standing there with her hood down. Her hair is soaked and her face is dripping. "I heard you talking to Lila today at school."
I walk to her. When I reach her, I grab her shoulders and push her up against a tree. She flinches and looks at me like I'm going to kill her.
"I know how you feel about me and I can-"
I cut her off by placing my lips on hers.
I loosen my grip on her shoulders. I drop my hands to her waist. She wraps her arms around my neck and kisses me back. I pull back to breathe.
She looks at me for a minute. As she stares into my eyes, I can't help it.
I let go of her and take off.
