Chapter Twenty Four

Wynter's P.O.V.

Notch had disappeared and I hadn't noticed until Ryan said something about it. I shrugged and she turned and ran outside.

I felt a little drowsy on the couch but I got up. I went outside to hang up my towel. Just as I began to walk back inside, I heard two familiar voices talking.

"What are you doing out here?" one of them says. That's definitely Ryan.

"I can't do this anymore," the other says. That one is probably Notch.

"Do what?"

"Being around Wynter."

I frown. Really?

"What do you mean? She's awesome! How can you not like her?"

"I never said I didn't like her."

"Then why can't you be around her?"

"Because I.. I get so nervous I can't even think. She's so beautiful and I just.. I have to control myself not to reach out and claim her mine."

"Awww." There was silence for a moment.

"What do I do?" Notch sounds stressed.

"Go for it! You're not getting any closer to her by cowering away."

"What if she doesn't feel the same way?"

"Why wouldn't she feel the same way? I think you're amazing and she'll totally fall for you."

"Are you just saying that cause you're madly in love with my brother?"

Ryan laughs. "No, that's coming from the heart."

Notch sighs. "Thanks."

"Come back inside, we're gonna watch another movie." Ryan gets up and heads for the door.

I turn and run back inside just as they reach the door. Jason grabs my shoulders and stops me. "What are you doing?" he asks in a suspicious tone.

"Nothing," I reply.

"You don't look like you're doing nothing, missy." He loosens the grip on my shoulders.

"Just let me go."

He actually listens and lets go. I take off into Herobrine's room, where of course, he's in there.

"Hey, what's up, Wynter?" he says.

"Herobrine, can I talk to you?" I ask.

He sits on the bed and gestures me next to him. "Spill the beans."

"I heard Notch and Ryan talking, and.. well, uh..."

"Come on now, say it, I'm not missing the movie."

"Notch likes me."

I think Herobrine was more surprised that I was. He literally drops his phone on the ground. "What?"

"I said, Notch-"

"No, no, I heard you! Notch always said he likes this girl on his street. He actually said so and she likes him too, but..." He pauses for a moment. "But at the last second some real jerk asked her out and Notch was heartbroken."

"Wow," I mumble.

"I thought he'd never get over it. Guess I was wrong."

"What do I do?"

"I'm not a real advice source, but I'm gonna say if you feel the same way, you should go for it, you won't go anywhere if you don't move ahead."

I smile. "Thanks." I jump up and run out of the room.

Later, we all gathered back in the living room for another movie. This time, we watched the Titanic. Ryan was holding on to Herobrine so tight and Lila was probably cutting off the blood flow to Jason's hand. They each were trying not to cry most of the time. I felt sad myself, not because of the movie, but because I don't have someone to hold like that.

But maybe I could.

I get up and slowly walk to Notch's room. The door was shut, and the room was completely silent except for the faint sound of music. I knock carefully.

"Come in," Notch says.

I open the door and step inside, closing it behind me. Notch was on the bed, wearing headphones, and he was reading a book. His phone was on the table next to the bed. He looked pretty occupied.

"Oh, hey, uh, sorry," he says when he looks up. He pulls off his headphones and sets them on the table, bookmarks the page he was on and threw the book to the side. "Hi Wynter."

"Hello." I sat next to him.

He looked a little scared for a moment but it faded away. "So," he says.

"What are you reading?" I lean over and pick up the book.

"To Kill A Mockingbird," he replies.

I flip through the pages. "Seriously? I love this book!"

"You do?"

"Yeah." I set the book back down. "Though it doesn't look like it."

He laughs. "Why aren't you watching the movie?"

"Well..." I pause. "I don't have anybody to watch it with."

"Everybody's out there though."

"I know. I mean like somebody that I can trust and someone that can cheer me up. It is a sad movie."

As if it was meant to be, I heard a faint wail from the group.

"You do have somebody like that," Notch says.

"Who?"

"Me."

He runs his fingers through my hair and then places his lips on mine. I'm frozen for a moment, but eventually I relax. To be honest, love is kind of a hard subject for me. Probably cause I've never experienced it before.

Notch leans back. "You wanna go watch the movie now?"

"Of course," I reply.

I take his hand and we head out to the group. Lila's a mess. She was sobbing, and Jason looks completely confused. Caden was out cold on the floor. He looked exhausted all day. Meanwhile, Herobrine has his arm around Ryan, who was silently crying. He was comforting her and kissing the top of her head. I smile at them and then I sit next to Notch.

All I remember was the very end of the movie. Caden was still sleeping, Ryan and Herobrine were both sleeping. Notch and Jason began to argue about something and Lila went to the kitchen. The only thing that I fully remember was the rain starting to pour down when I finally fell asleep.
