Chapter 3

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I should have told you a long time ago. Long before I left for that mission. Maybe it would have made growing up for you a little easier. I'm sorry I wasn't around for any of that." I apologized.

Before he could respond the alarm sounded. We both jumped to our feet in unison.

I grabbed his wrist pulling him toward the pod doors.

"C'mon." We donned our uniforms and headed to main deck where Ulaz and Kolovan were rounding everyone together.

"What's going on?" I asked dragging Keith to the front.

"Believe it or not a red lion has appeared along with a blue one. It's trying to get through the barrier." Kolivan spoke gruffly.

"What?" Keith gasped.

"Zarkon?" I raised my brows. Ulaz shook his head.

"No, we see no iminate threat, but the red lion is adamant about breaking through. The blue lion seems to be trying to stop it."

"Let's go meet them." I suggested.

If it isn't Zarkon then who could it be? What could they want?

Kolivan, Ulaz, Antok and Regris agreed to accompany me.

"I'm going too." Keith spoke up.

"Absolutely not." I hissed.

He's in his human form now, and who knows for his long. This is his weakest state. If anything happened to him-

"Dad I can do this. Trust me, I- I can't explain it but I have to go out there." Keith pleaded. His violet eyes piercing.

"You stay by my side. Do not show your half Galra side no matter what. Understand?" I quipped. Keith nodded.

We piled into one of our larger ships and raced to the barrier. Keith sat beside me as Kolivan opened communications with the lions.

There seemed to be no pilot for the red lion which was strange. Beside me Keith shifted uneasily.

The blue lion however was stocked with people.

"Hello? Is anyone there. Respond!" A voice broke through the static and white noise.

"This is Kolivan head of the Blade of Marmora, just who might you be?" He spoke with an edge of threat in his voice.

"My name is Shiro, I have here with me the paladin's of the blue, green and yellow lions of Voltron." The same voice retorted.

"Call off the red lion, no negotiations." Kolivan hissed into the mic.

"We can't. We believe the red lions pilot is among you. May we land and discuss this farther?" A deep clam voice spoke clearer. Kolivan suggested they land on our ships bay so we may speak face to face.

"Yeah it just suddenly went berserk and took off." Another more excitable voice chimed in from the background.

A distinct roar sounded from outside of our ship.

I felt my heart was skip a beat as I glanced at Keith. He was staring at the red lion, a dazed look on his face.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"It's like it's calling me. I think it's here for me." He spoke softly. His violet eyes never wavered from the red metallic beast now facing our ship.

Keith is the red lions pilot? So the legends are true. The lions are very much alive and choose their own paladin but only those worthy enough.
