*Dark Pit shows up for a bit in this Chapter since you guys like him so much Lol. Anyway....
"Are you ready?" You could tell that Palutena was worried.
"Yes," It was a simple reply, but your eyes were filled with determination. You were ready for anything. Palutena agreed on sending you to town to investigate a small rumor. Nothing more, nothing less. It wasn't much, but it was a start.
"Since the city isn't too far away, I can teleport you there. The laurel crown will allow me to contact you telepathically. Be sure to keep it on always," Palutena readjusted the crown on your head for the umpteenth time and you sighed quietly.
"I'll be fine," You stated confidently. However, your true thoughts said otherwise. You were not sure if you could go to town alone, mainly due to what you saw in your vision (you were attacked by wolves). However, you weren't sure when it was going to happen. So, you tried to stay positive...And safe.
"I'll send Pit once he finishes his mission," Palutena said and took a big step back. You felt a blinding light flash over you and immediately shut your eyes in response. Reopening them cautiously, you noticed the scenery had changed to that of a small town.
"Y/N, can you hear me?" Palutena spoke telepathically. She sounded as though she was standing right next to you.
"Loud and clear," You replied, taking in the environment. The town was a bit different from your hometown but looked overall the same. Children played in the streets and merchants sold their goods. A sign of a good, thriving community.
"A terrible rumor has been going around about strange disappearances of townspeople. Some say that they disappeared in their sleep...Others say that they were attacked," ...Attacked?
"By what?" You asked, feeling your heart sink.
"I'm not sure," Palutena pondered. Wolves. You just knew it. You contemplated on returning to Skyworld right now, but you didn't want to feel the sting of defeat. You had to prove that you were capable of handling yourself.
"I'll do my best to figure this out Palutena," You stated and hastily made your way past people. The small bag on your shoulder consisted of your silver knife and some jewelry you just stole from a stall down the street. I guess old habits die hard. You searched for someone who looked decent and asked them about the rumor. For some odd reason no one knew about it. You questioned all the way until sundown, but to no avail. Cold sweat poured down your hot skin and you wiped your forehead repeatedly. You were hot...and tired. Palutena had already asked if you would like to return but you refused, not wanting to come back empty-handed, regardless of what happened. Pit must still be working hard since he hasn't returned, so you would have to work harder. However, it was difficult to work if no one had answers.
"This is a fool's game," You whispered lowly. "I don't have a single lead. Not one. If only-"
"Help! Help! Someone please! Help me!!!" As if the gods had ordained it, the sound of a woman's shrill broke through your thoughts. Moving in the direction of the cry for help, you came face to face with a middle-aged woman.
"What's the matter?!" You asked. Tears slid down her cheeks as she spoke to you.
"My child went missing in the forest! She wouldn't listen when I told her to stay close! Please please save her!!" The women broke down sobbing and you placed a hand on her shoulder, feeling immediate guilt.
"Don't worry ma'am. I'll save her," You reassured the woman. After asking for the child's name, you ran into the large forest, pulling out your knife in the process. Wind whispered through the tall trees and the full moon was the only light source, producing an eerie, unsettling feeling.
