Chapter 13

"I wanted to say that I, I love you Keith. I know it's crazy, and we've only known each other a short time, but it's true. I fell for you." As I spoke my cheeks warmed considerably.

Keith's cheeks were a bright crimson. He blinked several times as his yellow eyes faded back to their normal color. His ears shrank back to their human size and color. His teeth retracted back into his gums.

"Keith?" I raised my brows in concern.

"It's because of what I did to you. It's because I was in heat. That's all." Keith shook his head in denial.

"N-no it isn't!" I grabbed his shoulders and forced him to look at me.

"You didn't make me do anything I didn't already want to do." I stared into his eyes willing him to understand.

His violet eyes flicked back and forth trying to decipher the meaning behind my words.

I sighed heavily drawing back.

"I don't care that you are half Galra. You could be a hundred different kinds of alien and I still wouldn't care." I spoke firmly.

Keith still didn't seem convinced. I rubbed the back of my neck trying to find something to convince him that I meant every word.

Geez, it's like talking to a wall here.

I perked up as a thought crossed my mind.

"My abuela once told me that when we are born we each have a destiny written out for us already planned and everything. Every right and wrong in life doesn't matter. Each of us are connected to one special person. No matter how different you are their soul is matched to yours.

She once told me that even when people find that person they question it because they don't get along and butt heads or disagree on everything. They could be polar opposites, but they could also be what that other person needs.

Keith, you are my match. Yes we are different on the outside, but in here," I placed my hand on his chest over his heart that was beating erratically. "Here we match. We are the same." I spoke honestly.

I pushed that selfish thought aside as Keith opened his mouth.

"You do drive me crazy. In a lot of different ways." He paused making an adorable puzzled face as he thought deeply.

"It's always been you Lance. Pushing me to my limit, making me a better teammate, teasing me just so I will notice you." He smirked at that.

Before I could wail a protest at that, Keith placed his hand over mine on his chest.

"It's always been you." The corner of his lip drew up into a half smile that washed away any fear of rejection inside of me.

"I love you Keith." I spoke softly.

"I-I love you too Lance." He blushed as he said those four precious words out loud.

I closed the distance between us using my fingers to tilt his chin and kissed him softly.

After we drew back Keith snorted.

"What?" I asked self conscious.

"My dad is gonna kill you." He chuckled as I paled.

KEITH

It had been a long emotional day and I wanted nothing more than to snuggle against Lance's warm body.

My heat seems to have been satisfied for now, so I figured it was safe to be around other people.

All of us gathered in the lounge to play some game Coran was raving about. It was a fun mythical game, but I was still pretty tired from today. I felt myself beginning to doze when something warm pressed against my cheek. I closed my eyes and sighed nestling closer.

I could make out the steady beat of Lance's heart. I felt his fingers brush through my hair absentmindedly as he spoke with the others.

His words were muffled as I began to drift.

Within what felt like a tic I opened my eyes when I was overwhelmed by the enticing aroma of coconut.

I peered through half lidded eyes to see I was in Lance's room. I was already tucked under his thick blue blanket. He was stripping out of his clothes in the center of the room.

Lance chuckled before I felt the covers slide away and the bed dip beneath his weight as he joined me.

"I can sleep in my room." I muttered as he draped an arm across my bare stomach.

"Honestly I didn't want to be alone right now. I kept replaying the accident again and again. I kept seeing you inside of the healing pod just- lifeless. It kind of scared me." Lance admitted as he toyed with a strand of my mullet.

"I'm here." I pointed out. He nodded but didn't answer. Feeling guilty I rolled onto my side to face him.

"I'm sorry I scared you. I won't do it again." I cupped his cheek.

"Promise?" He raised a brow holding out his pinky.

I didn't understand the gesture, but I felt the weight of it in his eyes.

"Promise." I hooked my pinky with his. He kissed my hand and sighed as he snuggled closer.

"You're so warm." I murmured feeling the warmth of his body press against mine. It resulted in only making my erection worse. I angled my hips away from him, but it didn't go unnoticed.

"I see you're awake." He chortled.
