Chapter 17

Allura wasn't kidding when she said the Red lion is stubborn and difficult to control.

I was getting the hang of it when I realised Keith had stopped communicating with me.

"Keith?" I called.

No answer.

"Keith are you okay?" I called again.

Still no answer.

"Keith talk to me!" I pleaded in panic.

There was some static before I could hear a grunt.

"I'm okay. I gotta get outta here. The white blood cells are gunning for me." He panted as though he had been in a fight.

"Alright. Let's get it done." I narrowed my eyes and gunned it for the giant worm.

After the worm took its shot I noticed a small spec floating around the space behind it.

"Keith? Is that you?" I called over the mic.

"Yeah, yeah it's me." He waved an arm.

"How'd you get out?" I asked flying towards him.

"Ugh don't ask." He retorted.

"Huh? Why not, what happened?" I asked.

"I don't want to talk about it." He growled flying into Red's waiting mouth.

He appeared behind me carrying a sack of the crystal plates.

"Did the worm poop you out?" I bit back a snort. Keith's cheeks turned redder than his suit and I burst into laughter.

"Just move so I can fly us out of here." He grunted. I was still laughing as we returned to the castle.

"Ah Hello Paladins, how was your trip into the bowels of the galactic space worm?"( I don't remember what it was called and am far to lazy to look it up.I'm sorry)

"Coran, I have to say- gross." I made a serious face and he chortled twirling his mustache.

"Can't expect anything less from the insides of a worm!" Coran laughed.

"Yeah great, we got the plates. " Keith handed over the sack.

"Thank you Keith." Coran smiled and trotted away with his bag of worm goodies.

"Keith, Lance?" Shiro's voice came over the com.

"Head to the bridge immediately." Allura's voice was quick to follow.

"Did something happen?" I asked exchanging glances with Keith.

"I don't know. Let's find out." We jogged to the bridge where the rest of the paladins and the princess gathered around a wide screen with Ulaz's solemn face.

"Ulaz?" Keith stepped forward with a frightened and confused look on his face.

Oh no. Something must have happened to-

"Keith, it's your father. He was taken captive by Zarkon." Ulaz spoke gravely.

Worried I looked to Keith and made it just in time to catch him as he fainted.

"Keith?!" I called his name.

KEITH

He's gone.

He's been captured.

I should have been there.

I should have known.
