Author's note: Some things are too good to be true... these things will trick and deceive you...
Spyro landed, and the others did shortly after. The sky was covered in grey clouds, and was heavily raining. The waves of the ocean on the shore were crashing violently, and lightning struck often. The landscape was just like it was in the Dragon Realm, but was half flooded.
"Wow, this is a shocking place, right?" Spyro said, looking at Cynder for confirmation.
"Haha..." she replied with. They began to explore the area, with the rain lashing at them constantly. They could see nothing but stretched out grasslands, with no life in sight.
"I don't like this..." Sparx said. "It feels too empty, too barren."
"There must be something. We gotta keep looking." Skystrike replied. They continued north, and spotted some animals ahead, but couldn't tell what they were. As they walked closer, they noticed they were wolves, with auras of lightning circling them. Their eyes were glowing white. The wolves were walking west, and quickly.
"Do we follow them?" said Ruby.
"That could be a good call. They could lead us to civilisation." Cynder added.
"Good idea, let's go." Spyro responded. They followed the wolves to a cave marked with lit torches on the inside. From inside the cave came a tall yellow dragon, with blue horns, spikes and underbelly. It was Volteer. Spyro was shook by this. Volteer let the wolves inside and continued to stand outside.
"That can't be him, surely..." Spyro said in disbelief.
"Only one way to find out." replied Cynder. They ran over to him, but Volteer didn't say a word. He instead just smiled to them.
"Volteer?" said Ruby, confused. Volteer didn't move. "Hello? Volteer?"
"Hehe, so cute..." he said. Spyro tilted his head, before Volteer vanished into thin air.
"Surely you are not fooled so easily..." came an angry voice.
"Nyx..." Cynder stared at her with frustration.
"Don't forget my brother..."
"I thought you were be burnt into ashes. How are you alive!?" Erebus shouted with anger.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Is nearly drowning not good enough for you?" Ruby responded.
"No, it's not. Both my sister and I... want... you... DEAD!" He said.He launched shadowy flames at Spyro. He avoided it, and it hit the cave wall with great force and exploded. Ruby ran towards Erebus, and jumped up. She twisted and spun herself whilst falling back down to drill into the ground. She disappeared under, and Nyx began to fire beams of purple light at Cynder. She was unaware of this, and hit her hard in the neck. She fell and clutched her throat. Nyx then rushed towards Skystrike and grabbed him by his wings. She quickly threw him over her shoulder, and fired a shadowball at him. Fortunately, it missed. Ruby then shot up from the ground, stabbing Nyx in the stomach with her claws. Erebus saw this and rammed into Ruby as she landed, and launched her. Spyro then charged freezing cold energy in his mouth, and fired icy essence at him. This froze him solid. Cynder then smashed into the frozen black dragon, severely hurting him and shattering the ice. Nyx, bleeding from Ruby's attack, grabbed a shard of ice from the remains of the icy trap and ran towards Cynder with it. Cynder flipped backwards, over Nyx, and spewed poison at her. She fell, dropping the shard, and immediately felt weaker. Ruby was suddenly tackled from the side and pinned to the ground by Erebus. He got his claws and held them against Ruby's side. He stabbed her with them, then slowly and brutally, dragged his hand down her wings, leaving deep cuts all over her. She began to bleed heavily. The lightning struck again, and hit Spyro's horns. Spyro was staggered by the impact, but then stood up, and his horns and spikes started to glow a bright yellow. He flew up, and then head butted the ground with intense force, making the ground shake. Electricity covered the ground, zapping both Erebus and Nyx. They collapsed onto the ground. The others were untouched by it. Spyro lowered himself and ran towards Ruby, who was losing blood fast. Cynder followed him. They didn't know what to do about her. But Nyx then stood, and helped Erebus up.
"You... really don't know... when to give up..." mocked Erebus, breathing rapidly.
"I don't give up. I never do." Spyro said. The two shadow dragons prepared to fight again, when howling was heard from their left. From the cave emerged several wolves, staring at the two teams of dragons. They all growled simultaneously.
"Spyro, who do you think they're going to attack?" Cynder asked.
"They might attack any of us." he replied. The wolves walked steadily walked towards Ruby, and as they got closer, the alpha wolf leaned closer towards her wounds. Ruby braced, but the wolf simply tapped her wounds with it's nose, and the wounds stopped bleeding immediately. The alpha howled once again, and four of the others leapt towards the shadow dragons. Erebus clicked before they were hit, and the two disappeared. They fled yet again. The wolves looked over at Spyro, then walked away.
"Well, I'm happy that ended differently than expected." Ruby said.
"Wait, where are all of the ice shards?" Cynder pointed out.
"They took them..." replied Spyro. The rain had stopped, but the lightning strikes continued. They found another cave, next to the beach shore, and rested in there.
"Are you okay, Sky?" asked Cynder. He looked like his soul had been taken from him. His facial expressions were non existent.
"No. Too much has happened that I haven't been prepared for, or happy about. I'm not sure if I want to carry on..."
"None of us do, Sky. But we have to, or the lives of others will be threatened." Spyro responded.
"I just wish things could get better."
"They will if we push on." They stood in silence for a while, before laying down and resting. The banging thunder and flashing lightning kept them awake, but they eventually got to sleep. Spyro knew the upcoming realms would no be pleasant, but he was determined to get back home, and help those in need. Cynder mind was full of thoughts about the two shadows. Nyx seemed dead set on killing them, and Erebus wanted to torture them in a way. She eventually put her thoughts aside and closed her eyes. In the long run, she would wish she never did that...
