Spyro I: Elements Collide

???'s POV

"Thunder, wait!" I hear her voice cry out from behind me. There was desperation in her tone of voice. I turn my head her way. "Even if I don't understand, that doesn't mean I don't care..."
Myra's face is leaking with depression. The girl can't care if she doesn't understand.

She begins to look more upset. "Besides, you are not alone in this, nobody is ever alone." I turn my head away to think. I can barely make eye contact with her. "We are in this together..."
She gains my attention once again. "I'll stay by your side: If you run, I'll run. If you stay, I'll stay."
Her persistence in making me stay with her is abnormally high, to the point where it feels almost irritating.

"If I'm being honest... the only reason I come all the way out here, every single day, just to wait for you..." Her head points downwards and to the side.
She pauses for a moment. She's thinking about how to word her next sentence, and when that happens, it's normally not good.
She looks up again. "Is because... because... you captured my heart."

My thought process comes to a halt. My body stops moving entirely. I barely processed what Myra just said to me.
I regain my senses. "I'm sorry, but I cannot accept."
She looks at me in disbelief. "What?"
"Everyone I look at has either lied to me, or even worse, betrayed me, and I cannot take it anymore." I pause. "I must leave, before there is nothing left of me to love..."

Her eyes grow in melancholy. "This is goodbye. You likely won't see me again after tonight."
I walk away slowly, not looking back once towards her.

Part of my mind tells me to turn back and return the favour, another tells me to continue walking. I follow my instincts and continue my current path.

I never saw her again after that.
