Chapter 9: Confined

"S.....sorry....", she shyly mumbled.

You felt guilty almost instantaneously.

You relaxed slightly at the girls small and timid voice. "No.... I am.....you're upset about this....and I blamed you.", you apologised, "Do you know what isolation is?", you asked, the deer tilted her head and smiled shyly revealling tight braces on her teeth,

"Yes, it means alone. Noone else, stuck in one place.", the deer explained,

"Can you help? Susie's been taken to isolation.", you asked making Noelle gasp, she quickly nodded, "Thank you Noelle.", you smiled gladly as the two of you sneaked down the corridor.

"So do you like her?", she asked,

"In what way....? She's my friend.", you replied quickly as you continued down the corridor, you were quick enough to see Susie being pushed into a room and the door locked on her.

"Lwemme out!", she yelled at the top of her lungs, her face getting warmer and more flushed as the angrier as she got.

She pounded the door window trying to make it crack open, she screamed as she kicked the door and began walking in deranged circles pulling at her hair before kicking the walls and punching them.

Susie's breathing started to get more sporadic rate, she clutched her head in immense pain, the room was too colourful yet so dark.

Alone.  That's all she was.

"Stwop it and get me out!", she shrieked through her sobbing.

Noone heard her pleas.

Susie screamed and ranted, punching her head as much as she could to get rid of her faults.

"GET OUT GET OUT!!!", she scratched and clawed at her arms before pounding her head in. Susie continued to sob uncontrollably and fell to her knees,scuffing them on the concrete floor. Susie growled as she got up and ran shoulder first into the door.

And she did that over and over.

She flung herself at the locked door repeatedly, Susie cried out in frustration and rising anger as the door connected to her shoulder and arm each time. Her arm becoming numb to her senses, "Lemme out!", she shouted again trying to stay calm.

The door clicked open gently to Susie's surprise as a figure entered the room overshadowing the small lizard.

Susie's heart pulsated harder and harder.

The figure bent down and slowly reached out with her paw," Don't be afraid....you're not going to be trapped in this room anymore.", the voice cooed softly.

Susie gingerly walked close to the figure, she quickly gave them a glance, slowly processing everything everything she saw. The figure was white furred and a purple outfit and glasses,"....A...are.....",Susie stammered,

" Take your time.", the figure smiled reassuringly as Susie walked closer and placed her hand in the monsters paw,

"Trust....?",Susie asked in a near whisper,

"Trust.", the monster smiled affectionately, "I am Miss Dreemurr, but you can call me Toriel, a pleasure to meet you little one.", Toriel smiled as she shook Susie's hand, "You're very lucky your friends told me what was happening.", Toriel sighed as she looked at Susie's mouth and bruised arm, "Oh dear.", she shook her head, "I'll make it all better for you dear.", she smiled as she stood up and held Susie's tiny clawed hand, "Let's get you to the nurse, is that okay with you?".

Susie nodded slowly at Toriels question.

"Good, now I think it'll be appropriate to call your pare-",

"NWo! Please dwon't!", Susie begged her tugging on Toriels arm and tried to pull herself away. Toriel quickly let go.

"Dear, listen....listen closely dear. You are NOT in trouble.", Toriel stated, "You are not to blame and you are certainly not a problem.", Toriel comforted.

Susie nodded shyly, "Fwriend came hwelp....sleep....slwepovwer...",Susie tried to pronunciate.

"Alright....do your parents know?", Toriel asked as they walked along the corridor, the bell ringing as Susie covered her ear with one of her hands,

"Ywes.", she blatantly lied.

"Alright dear, let's get you checked up, your friend is waiting for you, its actually the end of school, if you need to I can drive you home if you've changed your mind.", Toriel suggested as she readjusted her glasses with a light smile, "Would you like to hear a story ?",

"Sure.", Susie smiled.

"So earlier on today I was playing with a friend of mine, we were playing with frisbees, and I wondered why it was getting closer and then-",

"It hit you?", Susie asked with a shy smile before laughing,

"It's nice to see you smile Susie.", Toriel smiled in return as they made it to the nurses office.

You smiled as you saw Susie once again, you made eye contact and you both grinned.

Susie now cradled her arm which started to sting and ache, "Alright, if you need me for anything you two, just come to see me in my class I have some papers to mark and art to grade.", Toriel smiled as she waved goodbye to the pair of you.

The nurse sighed as she looked at Susie and began to apply some bandages on Susie's battered arm and gave her an ice pack and a bottle of water," Shoo.", she mumbled as she motioned to the door.

Susie growled as she pressed the ice pack against her arm as you got up from your seat and walked beside her, "Thank you.", Susie smiled.

"No problem at all.", you smiled in return.
