"Journey of a lifetime starts with the turning of a page." Knowledge is the strongest foundation of someone's success. Books are the best way to communicate knowledge. Therefore, books help someone achieve their goals and reduce chance of failure probably better than any other thing.Fables, myths, legends, epics and fairy tales are some of the books taught at school. Old books that most author who wrote it are dead. They didn't teach children about books created by more current authors. Fresh with new ideas, what's popular right now. These books help us have creative minds. It opens up new ideas for our entertainment. Books are like tvs inside our heads. Reading it is like entering a new world where you are free to roam. I turn to books whenever I feel lonely because in book you will never be powerless or lonely. You will never be judged inside it. Personally, I like science fiction more than other genres because it's like another Earth, another world where it's more interesting to live there than here. I've been so attached to science fictional books that I started creating one. I've created a world where I would do anything to live there, of course it's fake and only fantasy but everyone is free to imagine. Our minds are our greatest gift God gave us, so might as well use it. There are a lot of authors with lots of books that we can choose from our likings. If you want mystery to spice up things and make you think who's the killer or who's the bad guy, there are books like it. If you want fantasy where you are free to be childish, where you can live in a world that's too beautiful to exist, there are books like it. If you want books about love story with a twist, there are books like it. If you want to read books where you feel empowered, there are books like it. All I'm saying is, give a book a thought and try reading one. The first book I read was the Harry Potter series, I thought that book was only for kids but as I started to read further, I found out it's more complicated than that. I was in Grade 7 when I finished the whole book. It gives me joy that I finished that much of a book, it drove my mind to read more because I really enjoyed it. It removes my anxiety, it helps me think of other things to help me relieved my stress. I read more and more books. I set myself a goal last year to read 100 books in a year. I didn't succeed, I've only gone through about 90 but it's still a good challenge. Almost all of that book are fiction. I found it easier to get lost in the book if you are the one imagining it. Non fictional books are boring for me. It didn't require me to think more because the things and events they wrote can be found in real life unlike fiction, where you have to think more about what it looks like, what the characters look like, what their surrounding look like and how they feel at that time where the bad guy was trying to rule the world. You know the book is good when you get mad at the main character for ruining things or making the wrong decision. You started to think about what ifs. What if the character chose this, would the story change completely? What if the character's parents didn't die, would they turned out the same? Would they act differently? This happened to me when I was reading the Artemis Fowl series. The setting was set in a completely insane place, under the surface of the Earth, there's a city where fairies, gnomes, dwarfs, centaur and other monsters lived. It's a whole new experience. Then there are the mystery where once you get into the good parts, you cannot stop. At least in my case. I spent half a day finishing One of Us is Lying. It was a really good book. Makes you think a lot about who's the one lying about the murder, I'm gonna spoil you, it's a suicide. There are also other books about Greek Mythology other than the ones we studied. Percy Jackson is an example. Although I'm not fond of those genre but some enjoyed it so anyone is different. Did you know the movie It about clowns have a book? A really thick book, I might add. Also, did you know most teen movies and series have books? The Fault In Our Star, Paper Towns, Love Simon, Before I Fall, Twilight, Mortal Instrument, The Girl With All The Gifts, The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent, Speak, Harry Potter, Miss Peregrine, Goosebumps, It, and many more are just a few examples of book to movie adaptations. I suggest to everyone to read the book first before watching the movie because then you can compare what you thought and how you picture the scenes to be. You can enjoy little knowledge about it because you know some things that has been cut out. And you know in advance what's going to happen. Stuffs like this is fun. It doesn't stop from that, there are also pages online and groups where you can meet people who reads the same book and loves the same books like you and talk about it. You can discuss and express your opinions about it. Some even have book talks where you can watch the author answer your questions about their books.
Books aren't just for learning, it can be entertaining. I regret a lot of things especially being lazy but I never considered spending the whole day reading as a waste of time. I read a quote a few years back saying, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you'll learn, the more places you'll go." It is true. I'm here, at home but when I'm reading sometimes I'm at the outer space, other Earth, at the beach, in Egypt and more. It doesn't take you literally anywhere but it does take your imagination elsewhere and that's the best part of reading.
