Max POV
Who talked me into this? Oh right, Nikki. I walked out the door of my house. With me was my backpack full of clothes and stuff, with also my keys. Since I don't have a car, I'm going to have to take the bus. Fun. But literally 2 seconds after I locked the door this very rusted car that looked like it was made before I was born, that was missing the top of the car (well I guess that was on purpose) It looked...interesting. I squinted, taking a few steps to see who was pulling up in front of my house.
"HEEEY!" A voice I recognized came from the car. They jumped out of the car (literally) and ran over to my porch.
"Nikki?" I asked.
"Hi Max!" She looked at my backpack. "Yay! You were really serious about coming to this sleepover, huh?"
I rolled my eyes. Of course I didn't want to go but that was after I said I would and everything wasn't messed up.
"You got a car?" None of us have cars but Neil has his license. He spent months juggling his studies on driving and school. Then he would drive his dad's car. Sadly, neither Nikki or I ever saw him actually practicing since he didn't let us. He never told us either.
"Nope. That's Neil's ride!" she explained.
"So Neil is.."
"Inside the car waiting for us? Yup."
"Why didn't you think it was a good idea to tell me about this?"
"I sent you a text dude."
A text? I didn't get a text. At least I don't remember getting one. Just in case I did, I took out my phone from the pocket of my black hoodie. A message popped up on my screen from Nikki that was sent 30 minutes ago. It read 'Hii Max. I know this is sudden but busses are no more! Neil has his dad's ride for the weekend so we'll just pick you up. Cool? Cool. See ya in like a half an hour."
Oh- I guess she did give me some sort of warning. I sighed and looked up from my phone, looking at Nikki.
"Now that we're here you have no choice but to come." She said as she grabbed my arm, pulling me towards to car. I let her. I'll just sit in the back I guess.
"Glad you listened to me for once." Nikki said to Neil as she hopped in on the passengers side. I could not pass this chance to hop into a car and there's no windows or nothing to stop. I hopped in like I was Mario or something. The car started up. "Seatbelts." Neil demanded. Of course. I snapped my seatbelt because this could definitely be the car with you'd fly out during a car crash if you didn't. The car was silent for a few minutes. Too quiet. It was driving me insane. Not even Nikki knew what to do. It'll all be...awkward. Aw, what the heck.
"So your dad gave you his car?" I asked Neil.
There was a long pause, like he didn't know that I was talking to him.
"For the weekend, yes.." Neil's voice shook awfully.
Nikki on the other hand had a huge smile on her face since we haven't spoken to each other like this in a while. It's always a 'hi' then the end.
"Why? Isn't he busy?" Question after question I'm giving him.
Neil looked at me through his mirror, then looked back down at the road. "Oh, yeah. He's busy alright" he answered but then started again, answering a question that was probably going to be asked. "He's with his little girlfriend on some trip out of town. He just gave me his car and left."
"Oh.." I was satisfied for now.
"Tsk tsk tsk." Nikki joined into the conversation. "Your dad is just hopping girlfriend to girlfriend?"
"He's only had two after your mom literally drained his money, and another after Max- after...we set him up with a date on tinder. Now he has a new girlfriend that he found the normal way." Neil replied.
Oh that comedy gold. Not for Neil's dad but for me. Nikki's mom use to date Neil's dad. Nikki thought it was the coolest thing but thing thought it was anything but that. The girl would constantly ask for him to buy the most expensive things. Neil told him 'hey this girl is a gold digger' but his dad didn't listen and just told him 'oh you're just mad that I left your mom and now I'm dating your girlfriends mom' (they weren't dating. He just thought they were. Honestly I wonder his dad would take Neil's sexuality if he's out here shipping him with any girl he's with) Anyways, she pretty much dumped him as soon as he tried to talk to her about not getting as much expensive stuff because more than 90% of his paycheck would go to her.
Next thing i know we're in front of Ered's house. Neil parked on the street. "Don't leave anything in here. Someone probably will steal it." Neil informed us.
What- I know the cars old but dang. Why does Neil dad drive that thing? He's wealthy enough to get a new car.
"You can't just like,, put the top up?" I asked.
"Broken." He told me.
Neil looked back at me and saw my confused face, but I was too distracted by his face to pay attention to what he said. I was probably staring. He looked awful. He hand heavy eye bags under his eyes, his acne was getting worse, his hair was everywhere, and I mean everywhere. His eyes also looked slightly puffy. "My dad loves this car so much, he refuses to buy a new one. Honestly, that's just more expensive to me than a new car because this car has so much problems that need to be fixed." Neil explained. Then he blinked multiple times. Realizing my intense stare that was on him. "I DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT." Neil screamed, running
To Ered's porch. I was so confused, but whatever. Nikki and I hopped out of the car, making our way towards the Ered's porch. Neil had already knocked a few times so we just waited.
Ered opened the door, smiling. "Hey party people. Glad you could make it. You're just a on time!"
"HEY ERED!" Nikki screamed so loud in Neil and my ears.
Ered giggled. "So hype. It's party hour people."
"I thought party hour was later than this? It's like...almost 9?" Neil asked.
"Nah, Party hour every hour. Well not in the morning or in important places. That's just not cool, man." Ered told him, giving a thumbs down. "I'm talking you guys up. Come in." Ered got out the way of the doorway, letting the 3 of us walk into the house. This house is nice. Reeeal nice. "Dang Ered. It's cool every time I see your house." Nikki complimented her. "Yeah, thanks." Ered and Nikki began walking off somewhere. I looked at Neil, and he looked back. I was actually really worried for him. I may have to a whiff of his scent and he smelt good. Like, fruity. It smell awfully like how he smelled when I caught him vaping. Crap. Neil bit his lip and looked down at me. "I...I think everyone's in there?" He pointed to a room where chatter was coming out of. Uh, you think, captain obvious? I walked in front of him, into the room full of my grade. "Ooh, Max and Neil. How's it going? Great I bet after a few days ago, right?" Nerris smirked, and kept raising her eyebrows.
"G-Good I guess?" Neil was just as confused as I was.
Nerris just joined in on the confusion, and looked at her Harrison was was besides her on the gray sofa In the living room. He shrugged. "Hey, is Nikki with you?" She asked us.
"She came with us but ran off with Ered. You'll have to look for her." I told her.
Neil and I parted ways, I flopped down on the couch, watching Dolf and Spacekid playing Uno in the ground.
"Goldfish!" Spacekid yelled.
"You do know that we're playing Uno, right? Also?
You have like 3 cards in your hand..." Dolf explained.
"This game is hard!" Spacekid threw his cards down, puffing out his cheeks. Dolf sighed loudly. "Maybe if you knew how to play it wouldn't be!" After that line they started arguing. Yikes. But I cracked a smile because it was so stupid that it was so entertaining. That's when I heard a deep voice call out to everyone. Ered and Nikki has just came into the room at that time too. "I would not like to force anything into such a thing, but as it being pretty late already I think we should get into some fun group games." It was Nurf. God, his voice was so deep it was terrifying. "You're like, so right." Ered agreed. "I think it's time for some Truth or Dare!" She announced.
Nikki grinned at me. I don't like where this is going.
