Neil pov
I slightly opened the container that held my food. By now it was soggy and not as warm as i would like it to be.
"You want this?" I asked Max, opening the container even more wide for him to see.
Max cringed as soon as he saw the food inside. "Nah, try giving it to Nikki." He suggested.
"That's the greatest idea you've ever had." I spoke in a sarcastic tone. He gave me a grin, replying with, "Thanks actually. I've been feelings a bit ignorant now and days."
Most likely bull, but I'll take it.
Max sat on the stairs leading to the entrance of the school. I tapped his shoulder, signaling for him to get up. My boyfriend sighed, standing up from the stairs. Good timing too, a group of kids pushed their way through to to get into the school.
We followed behind those too but then I felt a hand on my shoulder.
It got super awkward for me once I realized it was Nikki.
"I haven't seen you guys in like forever!" The nature backed up, a smile on her face too.
Max groaned loud enough to capture the attention of both me and Nikki.
"it hasn't really been that long.." I shrugged, speaking for the both of us.
"You two just ran off before the sleepover even ended! You two are always together." She was cheerful, like she did something-
I had bad memories from that party. It was messed up I'm so many ways to the point leaving was probably the best option.
"That's not really true- you're always forcing us together. Anyways, do you want this leftover breakfast?" I mumbled, scratching the back of my neck.
"Oh,,,sure, thanks" She took the food without even looking inside to see what kind it was or even the state it was in. School anyone?" Nikki ran in front of us to dash into the school.
"So, Nikki having "plans" was just a way to get us to hang out?" He groaned. Our time together got more and more uncomfortable the more we were forced together before we starting dating.
"It was all Nikki's idea. I was just as confused as you were." I quickly explained.
"Are you mad?" Max asked me, the both of us walked into the building together, still no trace of Nikki.
"Hm?" I raised an eyebrow at the question.
"Your privacy was totally invaded this entire time. Doesn't that make you a little mad?"
We approached my locker. I fumbled with the lock for a bit the get the code in. It took me a moment to reply. Was I mad? I guess I'm happy that I'm finally with Max, but the way to get here was out of my comfort area. I try not to think about it. I've told Nikki over a thousand times to just stop with this Max and Neil thing but she wouldn't listen.
"I don't know." I shrugged.
"What- How? I would be so aggravated if I were in your shoes." he stated.
"Why don't you go find your locker?" I placed things inside my locker and took things outside of it as well.
"Nahh." Maxwell declined, leaning back on random lockers, as well as shoving a hand in the pocket of his hoodie. "Think I'm going to stay as the late kid." He added.
I slammed my locker shut, grabbing Max's wrist to go to his locker. I've been to it over 100 times, knew exactly where it was.
"You didn't come here early just to get to class late. Like, what is the logic in that?"
"Shut up dork." He smiled at me and then began lazily opening his locker. I glanced away from Max just for a moment where Nerris and Harrison caught my eye. They speed walked down the hallway, too much in a hurry to even notice us. Guess it is kind of messed up that we're not going to be the one to break the news to Nikki.
I leaned my back up against the lockers.
At the end of this school day, Nikki will know about us. She'll keep it a secret, right?
"Earth to Neil!?" A hand was waving in my face which forced me back into reality. "Huh?"
"I'm done getting my stuff. Let's go." Max pushed me to get me to start moving.
