So, for the rest of the afternoon, Midoriya and I talked about anything and everything. Turned out, he was the exact opposite to me. He was quirkless - until now, obviously - unlike his parents, and I was the only one in my family who had any significant quirk. We chatted about each other's lives, and our upbringings. I also happened to find out that he used to be friends with the ignorant blond I kept running into.

"Seriously?" I exclaimed, "You used to be friends with that guy? He's been nothing but rude to me since I met him!"

"Yeah," Midoriya replied with a half-hearted smile, "Kacchan has always been a bit... difficult to get along with. But trust me, he used to be quite a nice guy..." a nostalgic sadness seemed to wash over the poor boy, and I realised that he must be remembering something about his past with this 'Bakugou'.

'Better not push him further,' I thought, as I tried to come up with other topics to talk about.

We soon got talking about our quirks, and how they work. Midoriya explained how, when he didn't have his quirk yet, he took notes on any superhero or quirk he saw in action, and wanted to know how mine worked. He, of course, explained his in response, but from the sound of it, he didn't have quite a hang of it just yet.

As we talked, I reflected on what I had said to Midoriya earlier on.

"You saved someone..."

I did, too. I saved a few people, in fact. 'At least I managed to get points.' But I fell unconscious mid test, so would that be a deciding factor on whether I pass or not? 'Who cares,' I thought, more calm and at peace with what happened than I'd felt all afternoon. 'I saved people, and that's what heroes do.' Besides, there were plenty of other schools if I didn't get into UA High.

Hours passed by like minutes, and soon it was the mid-afternoon. The time my parents came to get me.

"Bye Midoriya," I waved goodbye as I exited the room. "Hope to see you soon!"

"You too, L/N. Hope you get better as well."

My parents engulfed me when I met them in the foyer of the building. They hugged me, and I'm pretty sure Dad was tearing up a little, but he'd never admit that.

"Oh Y/N," Mum said, holding face with her soft palms. "You had us so worried. When the school called to say that you were hurt, I raced home from work and grabbed your father and raced over here as quickly as we could."

"Are you sure you're okay?" Dad asked, bending down to my eye level and giving me a once over.

"Yes, I'm perfectly fine, just extremely tired, is all," I responded, a delirious smile stretching my face. "But, hey, I made a new friend already. His name is Midoriya and he has crazy green hair and a crazy cool quirk and..."

I chatted away to my parents from the building, to the car, and all the way home. I told them everything from my encounter with Midoriya and Uraraka, to the exam. Even at dinner and before bed I continued to ramble. After all that happened today, it was still the best day of my life so far.

"Okay sweetie, time to go to bed, it's been a long day for you," Mum pushed me into my bed, laughing as I laid on my back for a few seconds longer.

"Ugh, alright," I whined, slowly crawling under the covers. I had to admit, I was pretty tired, and the softness of my own bed was very very enticing...

Before I fully fell asleep, I heard Dad stand at the door with Mum, and I could feel them staring at me. They muttered a few words that I couldn't understand, but I soon passed out after they said, "Goodnight, our little hero."

It had been a week since the exam, and I'd been given no sign from anyone as to how I went on the exam itself. Everyday, I waited and waited by our mailbox at about the time the mailman usually came, but I'd receive nothing but letters for my parents and the occasional flyer. I honestly started to lose hope.

However, on Friday, Mum came rushing into my room with something in her hand.

"H-Honey, it's from UA!"

I sat at my desk for about five seconds before I cried out in surprise and ran to Mum. I danced nervously in front of her, both wanting and not wanting to find out what was the decision.

"Can I view this by myself first, Mum?" I asked her, my voice quieter than usual.

"Of course, Y/N. Go ahead, I'll be downstairs making dinner if you need me." And with that. She handed me the envelope and walked out of my room. Straight after she left, I ran to my bed, hopped on it, and ripped open the envelope. Inside was a circular object, not a letter like I was expecting. I tipped the envelope upside down, making it fall out onto my bed.

As soon as it hit my bed, a projection of a screen came up. On that screen was none other than my favourite hero of all time.

"All Might..."

"Hello, young L/N," he started, and my first thought was 'He knows my name! '

"First of all, I want to congratulate you on your efforts in the exam. It was a tough one - the toughest we've ever had at UA High - and you handled it with extreme skill and grace."

At this point I was a blushing mess. All Might was complimenting me! Could it get any better? However, I spoke too soon.

"Unfortunately," All Might continued, "The attacking points you'd managed to accumulate were, regrettably, in the lower tier of the examinees." My breath halted, and my heart seemed to shatter. 'Why did I think it'd be different? ' I thought, releasing a disappointed sigh. 'Why did I get my hopes up? '

"Although, attacking points weren't the only way we scored this test."

His words made my ears perk up, and my attention was back in a flash. My heart rate started to climb again, anticipating and hoping that this would all turn around.

"We also scored you on rescue points, and you, young Y/N, had quite a lot." I looked at my full score sheet and almost cried with joy when I saw that I had a rescue score of about seventy-five. As I nearly choked on the air I was breathing in disbelief, the Number One Hero continued.

"Just because you didn't complete the direct mission to its fullest extent, doesn't mean you weren't a hero. The fact that you gave up your opportunity to do better, in exchange for the safety of others, proves that you have the beginnings to become a true hero."

Now I was definitely crying. My dream, my passion, it was being fulfilled. Even All Might was saying I could do it. 'This isn't some kind of dream, is it?

Before I could contemplate whether it was or not, on the screen, All Might held out his hand and said, "Congratulations, Y/N L/N. Welcome to UA High's Hero Course. You are now part of the Hero's Academia."

Let's just say, all of the neighbourhood could hear at that moment was me crying for joy. I leapt off of my bed and punched the air.

"Hell yeah, I'm going to UA High!"
