After a long and arduous week of school festival preparing and planning, it was finally the weekend. Bakugou and Shoto fortunately were having a break from extra exam classes, so my classmates and I decided to start putting together our performance. The dance team were practicing some basic moves outside with Mina, whilst the band team were rocking on in the lounge room.
And that was how I was where I was: sitting in a pile of papers with a computer in my lap.
"Damn," I said, "I knew a lot of behind the scenes work goes into a lot of performances, but this is insane."
"I know right," Sero commented. "I mean, lighting is pretty simple, but thinking of something creative enough to blow them all away, that's going to be our challenge."
Sero sat at one of the study tables with his own laptop in front of him, scrawling some notes in a notebook beside him. Kirishima sat opposite the tape boy with Koda, both in a similar position, whilst Shoto sat beside Sero.
Kirishima grumbled, letting out an exhausted sigh. "It's just so hard to come up with any plans considering the budget we're on."
"Agreed," Shoto said, "but that's something we can't change. Let's just keep looking. Y/N, got anything?" He spared me a brief glance before doing a double take, his heterochromatic eyes squinting in on me. "What are you doing on the floor?"
I shrugged. "I like my space, so I'm utilising it. Besides, the floor is comfier than those damn chairs."
"But this is a perfectly fine desk up here. Why don't you come join us?"
"I sit enough at those desks during the week for study purposes. Do you really think I want to sit at them on my weekend?"
Shoto shook his head and turned back to his work, although I could've sworn there had been a slight upturn in his lips. "You're impossible."
I smiled. "And you love me for it."
"All right, you two, enough flirting. Let's get back to work," Sero grumbled, to which I giggled slightly at. Aw, poor single Sero.
Following his suggestion, I turned back to my notes to see what we'd already decided on:
Streamers, possibly sparkles (at the end, still deciding - ask Momo)Possibly incorporate quirks (Momo's streamers, Koda's anivoice, others???)Have Midoriya pulley Aoyama above the crowd as he shoots lasers everywhere - human disco ball How do we enhance the band's performance???
I scratched at my head in frustration. The last point was the question that haunted me since I decided to join the special effects team. It was the whole premise of our group, and yet nothing had seemed really... right. There had to be something else we could do, but what?
"Maybe we should seriously consider Mina's idea, guys," Kirishima said. "I'm just not finding anything else within our capabilities that we could do."
"I think what we've got is quite good at the moment," Koda said, "but I'm not really sure the audience would be into all of that. I mean, sure it's a spectacle to behold, but, I don't know, I feel like we need to engage them - let them know what we're trying to say and get them involved."
"Get them involved..." I muttered, eyes blowing wide. "Engage them..."
"Y/N?" Shoto asked.
"You've got an idea?" Sero asked, sitting forward in his seat. "Tell us what you've got."
I didn't answer straight away, choosing to pick up a my pen and a piece of paper and sketch my thoughts. I was no Vincent Van Gogh, but I continued to scribble until I was semi-satisfied with my work. "I was thinking," I said, turning the paper around to show the boys, "that a way we could engage the audience and make them feel a part of the performance would be to extend our stage."
