Finding Me (Todoroki x Reader)

Chapter 9

"Wonder who's broken in," Kaminari commented, being oddly calm in the high-intense situation.

"Who knows," Kyoka piped up, "Hope it's not a villain."

Momo hummed in agreement. "If it is, then we better be prepared."

I was concerned about the whole situation. According to some of the other students nearby, there hadn't been a Security Breach in years. 'So what could this possibly mean? Has some villain finally cracked whatever code UA High has on the school? '

Before I could think further, a warm hand slid onto my back, startling me a little. I turned to face the culprit, and Todoroki said, "Don't worry, we'll be fine."

Maybe because I had an obvious worried look or not, how he managed to know when I needed some comforting words, I didn't know. His eyes showed genuine concern, and that made me smile a little. Sure, he could use some pointers on how to interact properly with society, but he really was a good guy to have around.

"I know we will," I replied cheerily, smile my brightest. 

'Remember, a smile is your greatest asset when being a hero. All Might smiles when he saves people, and it always reassures them that everything will be okay. I've gotta start doing the same.'

Todoroki, returning to a neutral expression, gave me a satisfied nod, and then a loud voice sounded throughout the room.

"Don't panic! It's just the media that have breached UA's security!"

All heads turned, and all voices were silenced as Tenya Iida's voice resounded throughout the hallway. He was standing on a platform at the far end of the room, and he was holding onto the wall while speaking to us.

'How the hell did he get up there? ' I thought as I realised how high up he actually was. My eyes scanned below him, and soon spotted the short, but noticeable, Ochaco Ukraraka, and it clicked. 'Zero gravity...'

"We must remain calm until the teachers resolve the situation," Iida continued, more confident this time. "Don't worry about the media. In the mean time, stay calm and don't panic. Just stay where you are."

As if his words were a magic spell or something, the whole hallway silenced for a moment, no one even drawing a breath. 'Wow,' I thought, still staring at Iida, 'he really knows how to handle a crowd. Somewhat like a leader...'

The silence was shattered by small murmurs from students around us. What used to be panicked questions rushing out of their mouths, only casual chat left them. The whole air of the room had changed, and it was all thanks to Iida.

"Wow, Iida is amazing!" Momo exclaimed, grabbing my attention once more. "I knew he was a bit of a control freak, but who knew he could handle a panicked crowd so easily?"

More words of agreement made their way to my ears, and it made me feel weird, but good at the same time. A warm sensation spread throughout my body as I heard more and more praise for Iida. I figured out that what I was feeling was pride. Pride for my friend, and his success.

"Good on you, Iida," I muttered, a small, proud smile twitching upon my lips.

Soon enough, another announcement was made over the loudspeaker, making the room deadly silent once more.

"Security Breach resolved. Can all students please return to their classrooms for afternoon studies? Thank you."

One by one, each student filed back into the Grand Mess Hall, grabbing their school bags, and headed to class. I had quickly grabbed my gear and was making my way towards my classroom, when I was stopped by an oddly warm hand.
