"You're a weakling," he hissed, disgust slithering out of his mouth, "just like he was." Stain raised his blade and stabbed Iid in his left arm, spraying more blood than before, and making my stomach quiver. "You aren't heroes. You have no right to call yourselves that. Both of you are nothing but fakes."
"Shut.. up," Iida growled, pain-filled tears sprouting in his eyes. "You damaged his spine, and paralysed him from the waist down. He's never going to be able to work as a Pro Hero again."
I gasped at that, my senses going numb for a moment. 'He... did that to Ingenium? '
A groan sounded to my right, drawing my attention away from Iida and Stain. My eyes landed on Native, who was still leaning against the wall where Stain had left him. One of his arms was stabilising him upright, but the other pressed against his chest, trying to stifle the blood flowing fast out of his body.
'I gotta help him.' My body moved on its own accord, taking me towards the injured Pro, kneeling down to his height.
"Get... get out of here... kid..." Native groaned out, wincing at the pain.
"Ssh, don't speak," I replied, taking his hand off the wound and replacing it with my own. "It's gonna be okay. I've been interning with an agency, so they'll find us, for sure. Just stay with me, please."
I really had no idea what I was saying and doing, but the absolutely petrified look upon Native's face told me that I had no time to panic. Iida was pinned by Stain, and Native was bleeding out as every second flew by; I had to act, and fast.
'But what do I do? I ran off without Manual knowing, so who knows if anyone will actually be coming. Native is severely injured, and Iida's in Stain's clutches. What do I do... What do I do?! '
I closed my eyes for a moment, focussing on sending Native some of my strength, so that he could hold on for a little while longer. Connecting with his signature made me realise how low on energy he really was, feeling on the brink of death. 'This'll require a bit more than just a little transfer...'
I forced more of my energy into him, pushing it out of me with all of my might. I could feel his strength returning, but I could also feel myself slowly weakening with every second that flew by. 'But I have to, for Native. I need to make sure he lives...' It was such a draining process, that by the time I'd finished, I collapsed against the wall panting, exhausted.
I heard Native shuffle beside me. "What was that, kid? Hey, you okay?"
I smiled inwardly at how much brighter he sounded, but the blood seeping over my hands still told me he wasn't out of the woods, just yet. I managed to push myself off the wall, trying to seem unaffected by the amount of energy I just lost. Sending him a shaky thumbs up, I replied with, "I-I'll be fine. W-We just need to g-get out of here."
I frantically looked back over to my trapped friend, and the fear inside me spurred to life again as I saw the Hero Killer standing above him, sword still planted into his arm.
"My brother is my hero. He inspired my dream - that one day, I might become a hero, too! I won't forgive you. I'll kill you!"
Iida sounded rabid and feral with pure hatred. The tears spilling from his dark-blue eyes made my heart clench, tears pooling at the corners of my own eyes. Never had I heard Iida be so aggressive and vengeful before, and it was terrified me.
"Shouldn't you be more worried about saving that guy and your friend?"
Stain suddenly pointed his free hand at Native and I, and had to stop myself from flinching for the umpteenth time. I steeled my gaze against his threatening hand, staring it down, and kind of hoping it would melt under my gaze.
