With Newtmas

THOMAS POV:

I walked threw my section of the mall. Mall of America is now zombie territory. The zombies live in the hotel connected to the mall. I was a cop. The mall was still four floors and mostly the same. First floor is school, second floor is the mall with different stores, third floor is all food and we make our own food. Fourth floor is still the movie theater but it's not used that much. As for the rides and stuff we got rid of them and now it's just a normal park. I was looking for the new zombie. He was placed in here but shot a gun on second floor. We cleared out the building and no one was hurt but now we have to find the new zombie Newt. I caught a sent. He is in the rainforest cafe. I entered and started looking. "Newt" I said. He didn't respond but I know he is here. "I just want to talk" I said. I smelled Newt. I hopped behind the counter and found Newt. "STAY BACK" Newt yelled pointing his gun at me. "I'm not going to hurt you" I said.

Newt fired but nothing happened. He checked the bullets to find it was empty. "Just calm down" I said. "No, I'm not becoming a mindless freak" said Newt. I was offended. "Who the shuck told you we are mindless" I asked. "It's in the bloody movies" said Newt. I was annoyed. "We aren't like the movies" I said. "The zombie that bit me was" said Newt. "Okay I agree that the hunters aren't exactly gentle but calm down and trust me" I said. Newt grabbed a knife. "I can't" he said. Newt tried to stab himself but I stopped him. I grabbed the knife and threw it out of reach. "You can't kill yourself" I said. "Why not" asked Newt. "You're a zombie. Like it or not you can't change that. I know you're scared but let me help you" I said. I could see tears in Newt's eyes. I stood us up and had us sit down at a table. "Can I see the bite? Just to make sure it's not infected" I asked. Newt rolled up his pants on his right leg and there was the bite and a sprained ankle. The witnesses also said he was limping.

"It should heal. Let's get you to the hospital quick" I said. The third floor is food and hospital. "I'm not ready to see any one yet" said Newt. I hugged Newt and picked him up. "You just need to rest. You're still turning" I said. Newt said nothing as I carried him. He fell asleep in my arms. I laid Newt in a bed and then told everyone and explained how Newt is just scared but has calmed down and shouldn't shoot like that again. He didn't hit anyone. I think he only fired his gun to scare everyone away. I sat in the hospital waiting for Newt to wake up. He looked cute as he slept. Does that mean he is my soulmate? Newt slowly opened his eyes and blinked a few times. I sat on the bed. "Hey, do you feel okay" I asked. "Ya, I'm just hungry" said Newt. "I have some left over from lunch" I said. I gave Newt the raw pork I had left over. Newt slowly ate it. He didn't seem sure about it but he did eat it. After a few hours we left the hospital and I helped Newt adjust to everything. He was given a warning with a night in the cell but everyone later moved on. Newt and I later found we were soulmates and lived happily together.
